If youre considering to have a private party at this venue please think again. My service was rushed. Ive hosted enough parties to know when service isnt great. Ive never felt so stressed due to the venue as I was here. Its the little things which made the experience terrible. They started my service earlier than I wanted. Servers poured the soup into the soup cups, didnt leave the bowl of soup. Again, rushed the food out, rushed the clean up. Some of my guests were still packing up left overs and the servers started scraping the serving platters. The servers were very rude and not tending to my guests. Instead of pitchers of pop they give you cans of pop for each guest, I only realized at the end of the party they took back any drinks that werent opened. There are no free refills of rice or noodles, which pretty much every other venue will do. Service is very different. Winnipeg has a large community of people who host parties, that said guest are accustomed to certain things (simple things) for example: request for lemon wedges, hot sauce, free refills of rice and noodles. Sam pos servers are very impolite and not accommodating. The owner seemed friendly enough but I will not be dinning at this restaurant again. At the end of the day, I understand there will be differences with how a venue will run their private parties. But what I will not accept is the lack of courtesy given to the guests by the servers. The price point was on the mid-higher end for a private party at a Chinese restaurant, given that I added the dimsum platter. I wouldve rather spent my money somewhere else.
Not a fan of this restaurant. I’ve heard many negative things about it in the community, and a couple of them being were that the food was okay tasting, and that there’s an infestation. I can easily say that the Dim Sum happy hour is not the greatest.I was the only person in my group of 4 who was able to speak Cantonese, and whenever I tried requesting something to the servers, they didn’t give anything to us. I asked for sweet & sour sauce, and while they did give that, it took them a lot longer than it should’ve. I also asked for take out boxes for my group of 4 to the same server, and she did not come through with that request at all.I also would like to mention that the servers did not look happy to serve any of the customers. They looked either tired, stressed or just outright annoyed and it gave me a negative impression on them.Overall, I am most likely not going to come back to this restaurant. There’s four other restaurants in Chinatown that I rather prefer over this location.
This place is a hidden gem for dim sum lovers. It is in the China Town, in a very crappy looking neighbourhood but food is delicious. They have happy hours from 2-10 on dim sums. Food is really delicious and worth a try. We ate a lot and still it was not heavy our pockets.
