Just finished their Prime Rib specialBasically a thin cut steak smothered in gravyThe carrots were undercooked, the baked potato was not even hot enough to melt the cheese and the yorkshire pudding tasted like it was baked three days ago!!Great service thoughThe waitress was awesome!

Went for dinner one evening with 2 other friends because one of them raved about the ribs. WHAT A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. My plate came with 2 pieces of ribs (that’s 2 rib bones), a mound of mush that at first I thought was mashed potato but turned out to be parsnips (ewwwwww) and the veggies were rubber with no taste. Let’s say the plate was wayyyy too big for what was served. When I mentioned something to the waitress she said it was the end of the day and that’s what was left. Will not go for dinner again. Cautiously, I will try the breakfast sometime and see how that goes.

This was our second visit. The last time we shared the clubhouse and a Caesar salad. We both really enjoyed our lunch so we decided to try it again, but this time we wanted to try the breakfast. We were disappointed, at first we thought they just slapped on the leftovers from the brunch table, the eggs were decent, the hashbrowns were not that warm and the bacon was like rubber. When the server came around I had politely asked her if in fact they just served us from the brunch table, she insisted no, but did confess the bacon was cooked early in the morning, which explains why is was like rubber. Piece of advice; don’t serve a late breakfast if its just gonna be served from the warmer. We would like to try again.

Whole new experience. I had a review on here before of the old restaurant, but this is a new experience. The menu is different, the food is different, and the atmosphere is different. All good things! I never had any complaints about the place before, but if the other place was a 3 star restaurant before, it’s surely a 5 now.The food is professional; very nicely prepared. Their steak was very well prepared, and even the vegetables were really perfect. The prices have gone up, but it’s definitely worth it. This is now a place to take friends from out of town when you want to impress.

Unexpected Treat. I recently had dinner at The Jolly Friar Cafe, I had been to The Norwood for dinner before(and thought I knew what to expect), but to my surprise, the menu had been completely changed. It now contains more fresh and innovative choices one would expect from a 4 star hotel. I opted for the Wedge Salad to start, crisp iceberg lettuce, feta cheese and an in-house made russian dressing complimented perfectly. My guest opted for the spinach salad with strawberry vinaigrette with candied pecans and poached pear. It was a little sweet, but tasty. After that we shared a Lamb Croquette appetizer, two discs of succulent braised lamb, crisp breading, fennel, and a lemon aioli. Definitely the highlight of the night! For entree, I enjoyed the pork tenderloin with mushroom rissotto, and I believe it had an apple cider sauce. My fellow diner enjoyed the hearty shepherds pie with sweet potato. After dinner and a couple glasses of wine, and exceptional service, we were extremely satisfied and both declared that we will definitely be coming back soon. If you go down to The Jolly Friar, I highly recommend the Lamb Croquette. You won’t be disappointed.

Lunch. I ordered the bison burger which was a nice fine grind. The toppings were a little sparse. There was an unususal seasoning in the burger which I didn’t care for, making the burger tangy tasting rather than enhancing the flavour. The yam fries were the best I have had in the city although they deserved a mayonnaise dip with curry or something to go with them. The atmosphere is quiet and the service is very good.
