My second time trying Loveys. The first time was several years ago and the food was decent. I believe the ownership has changed and the quality is definitely not there. I had the poutine with brisket and it was supposed to be with gravy and cheese. What they served was a pile of fries and brisket with a ton of very sweet BBQ sauce.Yukk. Even the fries seemed like they were left over from several hours previous.The ice tea was overly sweet,the beans I am almost sure were pork and beans out of the can.Maybe their burgers might be good but if I want a burger Im going to Nuberger.I will never return to Loveys as its just not that good.Service great and the restaurant is clean and presentable.
The experience: It was off to be greeted at the door and then told to sit anywhere. We were handed menus and told to come to the front to order. When we did go up to order we were advised the specials posted on the giant chalk board are from the old menu and no longer valid.The FoodNot all the food was gross but everything from the fountain machine tasted slightly off.The burger was dry and the bacon was flavorless (how do you even do that?).The wings all sport a BBQ rub that over powers the sauce so no matter what flavor you get it tastes the same.The French fries were okay will we started to hit some really stale fries. Upon inspection it was clear that they added fresh fries with old fries. I even manage to get some surprise fries which tasted less like potato and more like ash.This was my second attempt eating here and this time I got to disppoint others.
My husband and I frequent this restaurant and have had nothing but great food and great service. The owner and his family/staff are friendly and professional and know our orders when we walk in the door. Their prices are competitive with the majority of higher grade BBQ places. The food is fabulous and in my opinion, it’s the best BBQ in Canada. We bring all our friends who visit from out of town here. Definitely worth stopping in.
Best BBQ in the city.. always good ..pork, been, or burgers coleslaw was great and the beans are like you are in Texas. Poutine was great. Service is goood. Wish it was open more so that we could go there for lunch.
I used to work here. The negative reviews of angry patrons aren’t inaccurate. Food has become substandard, lots of cheaping out, only open now limited hours. Waiting staff don’t get tips, the owner keeps them. The owner yells at staff and also patrons. CAUTION IF YOU PARK HERE!!! The owner is rather unstable in that he’s gotten into altercations with other business owners in the strip mall. In one instance, he got into a physical altercation with one of the business owners which resulted in legal action. He instigated the physical assault because the other guy was upset with him parking in the other business’ parking area. There have been numerous cases of people getting their windows broken in and their tires slashed in the front of his business and also the back of the building.One business individual in the mall complained to him when he left a nasty note because she was parked in front of his business on a Monday when his business is always closed! She complained to him in a letter and the very next day a dozen bags of Lovey’s garbage was left in the back of that business with the bags turned upside down on the ground so when you picked them up, the garbage ended up strewn all over the parking area. The garbage contained all of Lovey’s garbage. This is totally immature passive-aggressive shit from the owner of Lovey’s. This is just a sample of the many problems. There have been many more. Nobody in the mall likes the owner of Loveys. WARNING: If you MUST eat here, then park on the street. If you have damage, contact Rancho Realty, owner of the strip mall.
Love their food, never had it in the restaurant always get it for take out. The banana pudding is amazing. The pulled pork is great, I’ve never had chunks of straight fat that I seem to always get every other bbq place, so for me lovey’s is the best for pulled pork.
