Went there for lunch and had the beef noodle soup which comes in a small bowl with Ramen and a Chinese 5 Spiced type of gravy on top. The Ramen was a basic and nothing special but it wasn’t too bad and was enough of a portion. I also ordered Oriental rice ball and I was almost finished my soup by the time it got there and the owner explained that they were frozen….and boy were they ever, freezer burnt and horrible that I spit it out after trying a bite. I explained this and ordered Pan fried dumplings instead. It is small and fills up fast with regulars and the owner knew them all and knew it was my first time. Its dirt cheap which compensates i suppose for the qualiy of some of the food. I would go back and try the pork over rice though.
Pleasantly surprise by this little unexpected eat house. Went here with a few friends. My porkNoodle soup was hot and fully of flavour. Steamed beef buns were sweet and savoury and I saw them hand making trays of them in the kitchen which was nice to see. The bite size mini perogy-like dumplings were tasty alongside the traditional meat balls whose name I can’t recall. Realized later that I essentially are proteins and starches for lunch…. And loved it. Small place that you will likely drive by due to the way it looks… Until you try it. The place was packed and people were waiting to be seated. I will be back. Great job, new Hong Kong!
Want a quick, cheap, delicious meal? Order pork spare rib rice and fried Peking perogies. The place is a hole in the wall, but the owners are always polite and my craving is always satisfied. We make a point to stop here every time we visit Wpg! Attached are prices as of Aug 2016.
First visit in 20-25 years.Wow, what a major disappointment. The pork sil-mi is actually, what looks like processed meatballs. The shrimp dumplings were ok.The biggest disappointment was the fried peking perogies. (super mini size). The wonton noodle soup was bland. NO FLAVOUR.I think they used packaged instant noodles. Are you kidding me?Again, major disappointment. Will I return?NO.Attached is a copy of the menu with the updated prices.
I like the pearl of the orient dumplings and the shrimp dumplings. The service is quick and the prices are very reasonable. The decor however is tired and looks like it’s outta the 80s or something. You literally sit on park benches! Also, the pork siu mai is really just a pork meatball… The spare rib rice is good and tastes home cooked, like my mom used to make it (not really sure if you would go out to eat home cooked, but whatever). As for the noodles, I’m at a loss, I swear they taste like packaged ramen noodles.I’ve come here only ever since I started working downtown. I guess what they serve is dim sum, technically. Just in a fashion I’m not used to seeing it in.
Such a hidden gem! My uncle took me to this restaurant all the time when I was a little girl and I developed a love for their food! 10 years later and I am still in love with this place! The food has not changed one bit – delicious! And the prices are beyond amazing!
Favorite place. Been coming here since I was 12 with my family and I’m 42 now.. I love the food and crave it often. Robert is always friendly and greets you every time as well…. Recommend this for lunch and I have brought numerous people here that have also enjoyed it.
