Get the Cadillac Burger. Good deal. Lots of goodness and TWO layers of bacon. A traditional burger without the frills.…

Just OK. I didn't mind this diner but it was hard to enjoy to its fullest because of the cleanliness... not a very clean place and kind of put me off.…

Holy Moly this is some good food. The fries are great! The burger tastes just like how my grandpa makes them. Not sloppy and greasy like fast food or Fat Boys from around the city. I wish it had lettuce and tomato, but to be honest this is the first burger I had that didn’t need them to taste better. The pouring gravy is great, but I think the cheese is a mix between shredded and a processed slice of mozzarella. The waitress was so kind and sweet and motherly. I wish I could have stayed in to eat but I had a furnace appointment soon. The place could use an update because it looks a little like a dive, but don’t let that fool you! The food is down right home cooked! I wish I could just interior decorate a little lol 🙂
Cute, but keep going. The place is a bit of a dive. Adorable, don’t get me wrong, but just not worth it.I hear it was great in it’s day but it is now a little run down, a little worse for the wear and the front 1/2 is used for storage in a very cluttered and ‘everyone can see it’ kind of way. The atmosphere is homey and cute but I kind of felt like I was barging in on a private conversation since the waitress and customers were chatting like it was Cheers. Not that there’s anything wrong with it, I just felt a little out of place. The food was only ok and I could certainly have cooked better at home in a flash. The breakfast special was 2 eggs, 2 pieces of your choice of meat, hashbrowns and toast for $3.99 when purchasing a drink. The eggs were ok, not fabulous, the sausage was.. a little odd, not crispy. It tasted like it maybe had been cooked a while before and reheated. The toast was fine, how do you screw up toast anyway? And the hashbrowns were ok as well. But that was it, just ok. I had an omlette with mushrooms and swiss; the mushrooms, unfortunately, were awful. I think they were canned. And the omlette was enh. It needed ketchup, salt and pepper before I could eat it properly. I got fries with my meal and they were the best part. They kind of tasted like bacon. The omlette was $6.50.After drinks and breakfast, the whole thing came to about $18.00, more than we felt we should have paid for the value. Also, it took much longer than expected to get our food. While the place wasn’t BAD, it wasn’t worth your time either. Sorry, Big Rick, I just won’t be back.Cheers.
Saturday brunch. My daughter and I enjoy a cheap meal here every other Saturday after bowling next door for her league. W always enjoy a hearty breakfast and often have others join us. As a greasy spoon I never expect much from it. S what I get is good.
Meh. My girlfriend wanted to check out something new and so we came here for breakfast, seeing as 81% of people liked it. I ordered a vegetarian omelet and unfortunately the mushrooms used were canned and cheese inside was a cheese slice. I was disappointed seeing as mushrooms you can get anywhere NOT in a can and New Bothwell has the best cheese and is local. Of course I don’t know how the rest of their food is, but based on my breakfast I wouldn’t go there again. I would have paid a bit more for fresher ingredients for sure.On a positive note, the waitress serving us was friendly and gave us good service.
Some might call it a dive but I’d say more of a hidden gem…good food and great prices…most of the burger places in the area are using frozen patties these days…hot rod still makes them fresh. Servers are friendly and decor is nostalgic…yea the front half is a storage area..but I guess they are working with what they’ve got and doing a pretty good job.
A cool little diner on south Henderson. Don’t be scared away by the rustic exterior or the faded, cracked linoleum floors. This diner won’t be winning any beauty contests but if you like big portions of home cooking at low prices, the Hot Rod diner is the place to be. My double bacon cheeseburger, while a touch dry, was enormous and flavorful. Beautiful handformed patties rank right up there with any burger I’ve tried in Winnipeg. The addition of mayo would help the dryness. My date went with the vegetarian omelete (breakfast served all day) and it was just STUFFED with fresh fillings. Our daughter was treated to two HUGE pancakes that she couldn’t come close to finishing. She can be a finicky eater but no complaints here. Lunch came to $28 with tip and we are bringing home a ton of leftovers. If you like greasy spoons you have to check this place out!
