A large group of us came to Bailey’s for lunch in celebration of a birthday. The first thing I noticed was the decor which is so awesome. It looks like the inside of an old mansion. We had all pre-ordered so as not to have an excessive wait time. This would have been alright if there’d been prices on the online menu. Our waitress was a bit aggressive but otherwise okay. I ordered the steak sandwich medium rare with a side Cesar salad. The presentation was definitely lacking. The steak itself was cooked perfectly, the bread a bit bland and didn’t hold up well they should consider changing type of bread. The sandwich could have used some sort of topping like mushrooms. The side Cesar salad was quite small especially for the $2.25 up charge. Otherwise it tasted good. Overall it was a bit pricey for what I got. I may or may not be back.
Had lunch here today. This isn’t the first time i have been here. Another good meal. I had the steak sandwich and my aunt had the veal. Both meals were very good. I do have a complaint. If you are a waiter and you decide to go outside for a smoke please wash your hands as non smokers areVery sensitive to the odour. Also we were the last ones in the restaurant and our waiter literally forgot about us. Perfect opportunity to dine and dash
First the positives. Calamari was decent, steak was cooked properly to order, the decor was old school and the service quite flawless and prompt. There is some room for improvement though. I ordered Hollandaise sauce with the steak just to see. They only charge $4.50 for that, but seriously, that was some kind of thin chicken gravy that bears no relation to Hollandaise. The details need work. Overall, the view of Portage and Main from where we were seated was definitely a plus. But don’t pretend to have a particular sauce if you don’t even know what it is.
All the food was terrific and tasty. The service was meh. We ate in the loungeand it was pretty steady. Because we were in an alcove, I think we were missed so we didn’t get refills as often or as quickly as we would’ve liked particularly since the glasses are small. There seems to be a great team there when someone would notice out empty glasses, they’d refill them even if they weren’t our server. That was appreciated. I’d definitely go back but I think I would make a reservation or sit in the dining room.
Came here one night for beer wings and ribs with a friend. The restaurant was virtually empty we were the only ones there. The waiter seated us. He then went back and kept talking to his buddies. Me and my friend counted 10 minutes gone by. No service. And there goes $100 walking out the door.
Hidden gem! Beautiful classy atmosphere in the dining room, not busy on a Friday night so it was very romantic for my fiance and I. My steak was great, and staff very accommodating with my gluten allergy. Reasonably priced.
Nice place to go for any occasion. Foods great, the staff are very friendly and helpful. Can’t remember our servers name last time we went but he was an older gentleman that made us feel right at home!
