I went here to pickup lunch to bring back to my desk, and I have to say this is one of the best pickup sushi places near the Portage and Main Circus. I picked up lunch here once a couple years ago (that I was not very happy with), but it appears they have a new management or sushi chef that has quickly changed my mind.The prices are a bit higher than some other sushi places, but it’s not that much more. Considering the portion sizes very extremely generous, I would say it is the best value. The fish was extremely fresh and the rolls were also put together very well. The Salmon/Tuna nigiri I had a large piece of fish on each. It was almost 50/50 fish/rice which is fantastic; most places put half the amount of fish, and use twice as much rice for nigiri. Something about their preparation of the fish, the nigiri had a nice subtle butter like after taste, which was amazing.I usually prefer simple one ingredient rolls, so I also picked up the shiitake and avocado roll. I would normally prefer my shiitake roll without avocado, but that was not available and I was in rush to grab the pre-made boxes. However the avocado was an extremely nice addition to the roll. I have had avocado in my rolls from other sushi places, but here they made sure the avocados were perfectly ripe, and the preparation of the entire roll made it much better than what I expect most shiitake (only) rolls.I wouldn’t let the slight price increase scare you from this place. 50 cents to a dollar more per pre-made box is extremely reasonable with all things considered.
Pretty good take-out sushi. I have been stopping by here for lunch or after work at least once a week lately. I am new to sushi so I’ve only had the Kappa (cucumber) rolls and the house rolls (cucumber, deep fried shrimp & avocado) from here, but those have been so tasty! Very fresh, very well rolled (none of them fell apart). I like coming here mostly b/c it’s a pleasant experience – the guy who works here is always so happy & friendly, and just like the other 2 places across from them (Mmmm Muffins & Green Park) they always make a point of saying Good Morning & Goodbye to anyone who regularly walks by. They’ve got 1/2 price sushi at the end of the day for any of the bento boxes not sold. Side note tho – as far as I can tell they make ALL the sushi very early in the morning, so by late lunch and certainly by the end of the day I’d be hesitant to be eating the raw fish sushi.
Never ever come back!!!. Such a bad experience today the half price sale sushi is on!!!i choose 3 boxes of sushi to buy then i accidentally dropped 2 boxes of sushi on the floor and they let me pay for it!!! when im looking for my 3rd box of sushi someone took it what the hell!!! i also working in the restaurant business but for sure if the customer spill something the owner wont let them pay for it and they even offer to replace it!!!!poor customer service…i pity them!!!
