The 1.0 review should not reflect any problems with the food which is really quite good. But the service we received was about as poor as you could get. Our party of 5 had a reservation for a 7 pm concert so we prudently arranged a reservation for 5:15pm. With a 5 minute walk to our concert this should have given us far more than enough time. We placed our orders at approximately 5:25pm and one hour later the food still had not arrived. Certainly the restaurant was busy but when you make reservations the restaurant should have some idea of what kind of crowds they will be dealing with well in advance. The waitress was pleasant and apologized but we had to eat our meals in less than 15 minutes and ask for our cheques before the food had even arrived, to be on the safe side. Other customers were abandoning their orders and leaving. We heard no explanations about being short staffed so this is quite unacceptable. We will not be returning.

South Osborne Location – We ate here on March 9, 2018 at 6:15PM.We ordered the $42 12oz ribeye and asked for it to be cooked medium rare. All at once, we received the ribeye, the paella, and mussels simultaneously.I spent time dividing up the food for 3 of us because we were sharing everything. The waitress asked how the food was. I was still slicing the ribeye for everyone and so I didn’t check the doneness of the steak yet, but the mussels and paella were good, so we told the waitress things were good. After everything was divided, we started eating everything and noticed the steak was tough. The lighting was dim so I turned on my cell phone light to check the doneness. The steak was well done. I had placed 2 slices onto my mom’s plate, my wife’s plate, and my own plate. We had confirmed with those 2 bites that the steak was overcooked. 50% of the steak remained. The waitress again came over and asked how things were and we told her and showed her that the steak was not cooked to the desired doneness. She was apologetic and took the dish away. The manager came over and was not apologetic. She wanted a timeline of when we found out the steak was well done and how quickly we told the waitress. Also she asked why didn’t we tell the waitress that the steak was well done the first time she came over for her ‘quality check’.I felt interrogated and told her that we were sharing everything and that we simply hadn’t had a chance to eat the steak yet, but we did notify the waitress the very moment she came back the second time. The manager just left the table without telling us what kind of recourse we would receive. She did not ask if I wanted another steak. She did not say that the steak would be complimentary. The waitress came back and stated that we could have any dessert on the menu free of charge. After completing our meal and got our bill, the $42 steak was left on the bill. I asked the waitress whether we still needed to pay for it. She offered to ask her manager to give us a 25% discount, which was approved.Unfortunately, the way the manager had handled the service and the fact that I had to ask for a discount has permanently turned me off of Hermanos forever. We noticed that the table beside us also had returned a steak to the kitchen. They were offered a new steak on the spot without the manager coming to the table to verify what happened.

Birthday dinner was a hit! We started with two tapas selections for appetizers: the stellar, satisfying and spicy empanadas and the Milanese Bites (crispy breaded steak served with honey Dijon mustard). Both were excellent choices. For dinner, we shared the La Cabrera steak board with a 24oz ribeye cooked to medium rare perfection accompanied by delicious sides of potatoes, roasted veggies and bacon-glazed mushrooms! Coffee and a shared slice of something sweet (in this case, cheesecake) finished off our superb meal. Service was fast and friendly for a Friday night. Only drawbacks were that the restaurant was exceptionally hot temperature-wise and a bit on the loud side. But it was my companions first visit and we both very much enjoyed our dining experience.

Pleasant Pub atmosphere, pretty good (but not outstanding food), lots of tapas on the menu, on tap beer selection limited (but quite a few imported beers by the bottle. Prices were reasonable and service was average.

When I lived in Winnipeg my wife and I had seasons tickets to MTC. We would often visit Hermano’s before a production for dinner. Last weekend, we were in town for the Brad Paisley concert at the arena and decided to revisit one of our old regular spots before the show. It was a nice night with no mosquitoes so we decided to sit outside. The patio area is very cramped and the tables and chairs had a layer of dust on them. I have a feeling they are rarely wiped down. For dinner, my wife ordered the steak salad and I had fish tacos. The food was quite good. Very reminiscent of previous visits. It was exactly as we were expecting. I did notice that the prices have gone up substantially. We ordered middle cost entrees and a bottle of red wine. The bill with tip was $80. I think a little on the high side. However the service was strong and the overall experience as good as ever.

I think this place is overrated. Food is good, however expensive. I liked the live music. Overall the atmosphere is only alright-ok, doesn’t match the price of the food. A good place to check out one time, and that’s about it.

Good visit – the 12oz ribeye definitely better than the NY steak. Meat board starter was plentiful and the server knew the selections well. Wine selections were underwhelming given the restaurant was out of a number of wines that were listed.
