First time eating at Kings. Its ok. Not the worst but not memorable. I ordered chicken fingers with poutine. Chicken fingers were good. Poutine was lacklustre. There was about 4 cheese curds so that was disappointing because I paid 4$ extra to upgrade. Fries were good but the gravy tasted like thyme. Nothing wrong with herbs but to only taste the one ingredient is off-putting. My friend had the veggie korma. They said it was ok. I tasted their naan bread and it tasted like a pita. Food isnt spectacular however the service was great and all the staff were super nice. The vibe is awesome too.
Recently visited this establishment twice, once for lunch and once for dinner/ drinks. I love the atmosphere of this pub, and I also find the food to be surprisingly good. For lunch I had chicken fingers and curry fries, and the curry sauce here is very tasty with just the right amount of spice. I found the lunchtime staff to be super friendly and attentive, and would have preferred hanging out at the Kingshead for the afternoon instead of going back to work!I also went to watch a playoff game here and was pleasantly surprised that I was able to make a reservation without even asking. I had phoned to see how busy they were and to ask if it was likely that I would get a table if I went down within the hour, and was immediately offered a reservation by the accommodating person I spoke with. Food was again good and reasonably priced and there was a good selection of beers and drinks. The only downside is that special food requests are not encouraged. For instance, you cant get curry sauce on the side (they will only put it directly on the fries) and when I asked if I could have an order of nachos with only cheese on half the order and all toppings on the other half I found out that this was a no-go. This might bother me at other restaurants, but they are quickly getting out decent food to customers, so I can live with them not being too accommodating with these requests. I find the Kingshead to be a cozy place to spend a few hours and I find the majority of the staff to be friendly and attentive. Definitely a great place to go if you want to go somewhere with that English pub feel, with food that is also reminiscent of an English pub. There will be many more visits to this pub in my future!
