After eating at the Pembina location I had to wonder how they are getting the rave reviews. I ate there earlier this week and was disappointed. The pita bread was stale, by the end of the sandwich it was like dry chalk. They have a selection of veggies to add but the actual meat serving was quite small. Other than a garlicy taste there was little flavour. I couldn’t believe he used cold meat instead of shaving it off fresh and he WEIGHED it, still can’t believe it. I’ve had Shawarma where ever its available in Winnipeg, its been disappointing compared to what I grew up with in Ottawa. One exception was Shawarma Time but not under the new ownership, the quality and great taste are gone. One thing that is consistent in Winnipeg is the over saltiness, don’t know why they all make it so salty. Pegger’s need to travel to Ottawa then come back and rate our options again.
