Enjoyable Dessert. This truck is usually parked along Broadway and I decided to give it a try. The truck is brightly coloured and the staff were friendly while they quickly kept the line moving. While they mostly serve Asian inspired sandwiches, I just opted to go with dessert. I tried the Fried Coconut Banana Fritters. I’m not sure I did my arteries any good, but my taste buds sure appreciated my choice. I received 8 fritters in a Styrofoam container. They were crunchy on the outside, fluffy on the inside and had a good mixture of coconut and banana flavour. They had a combination of caramel and chocolate sauce on top. There wasn’t a lot of extra sauce in the container, but each fritter had a liberal amount of sauce on the outside of the fritter. I don’t usually have dessert at lunch time, but I thoroughly enjoyed their offering. I see that this place is also taking part in a new pricing trend in food carts and trucks. The posted price does not include tax. I wouldn’t hesitate to try them again.
Not even mediocre. I ordered the Bangkok sandwich, which with tax cost $9.00. I was expecting a delicious sandwich, given the writeup on the menu board. What I got was a deep friend chicken burger on a stale bun covered in sauce with tomatoes, lettuce and bean sprouts. Will not be going back.
Delicious!. I stopped by Vilai’s on my lunch break for the first time. After looking at the menu I saw the Angry Buddha burger. Now, I’m a sucker for any burger with a fried egg on it. After my first bite I was immediately impressed. In my head it was like Unburger’s Donald but with Asian flavors. It was a perfect balance of spicy, sweet and savory. I will definitely be looking out for the truck again.
Food Truck Wars Winner. Tried their banh mi during the Food Truck wars at Many Fest and they were my favourite out of all the samples I tried. Tasted fresh, authentic and I wanted more! I’d like to try more of their menu now.
