Wife and I got home late last night and weren’t in the mood to cook dinner. As a result, we wanted something in the south end of the city to eat quick before running some errands afterwards. My wife suggested Ume Yummy as she was craving a bowl of noodles. I myself wanted to go for Vietnamese Pho, but caved and agreed to try this place out. I’m actually quite glad I did! The restaurant is small, but the service was quick. The menu is exceptionally simple if you’re here for the noodles. Basically, pick a soup, pick a noodle and two sides to go in the noodles. I got a Sichuan flavored ramen and my wife got a chicken broth flavoured rice vermicelli. We also got a side dish of sliced pig ears! Both noodles were flavourful and the amount was very generous. Considering the bowl of noodles was $8.95, it is a real bargain. I would definitely come back just to eat noodles! The menu has other main dishes, like curry rice dishes and various other stir fries. If I find myself here again not feeling like noodles I would definitely give those a try.
I read a lot of reviews of this place, which are unnecessarily harsh. The noodle soup combo is very nice and filling with a spicy soup base, and comes with many ingredients in the broth. The side dishes that you can order are also very yummy and good for the price.I can’t understand how people complain about the prices of this place when it is much cheaper than Kazoku Restaurant right beside it. This place has a very heavy Chinese/Hong Kong vibe though.
The noodle combo is just something very simple and ordinary food, but I find it quite good. However I won’t be coming back because of two reasons. 1. It takes forever to bring the meals out even when there are not many customers in the restaurant. 2. It’s too pricy and it’s not worth the money.
Last time I tried the new dishes. It is too expensive and it’s size should be for kids. The only thing I see in the dish named mushroom fried pork is mushrooms. I only see eight small pork. And everytime when I came into, it often took a long time to order and eat. I will never go to there. In addition, the taste there is not good. Besides never try the eggplant there, I never ate an expensive dishes like this.
I ordered the noodle combo(fish ball and seasonal vegetable with tomato soup). Too expensive. Too light. Not full even I am a girl. I was so disappointed.
This place was recommended to me by a friend, I have probably driven past this place a million times and never noticed it. The staff were friendly. We got tea as soon as we were seated. I had the noodle soup bowl and it was very tasty and the portion was good for the price. I would definitely go back for another bowl of soup!
