I have been to this place everyday in the past week. If you are into Persian cuisine or looking to trying koobideh (kebabs) as shown in the photo, this is the place to go to. The owners (husband and wife) run the place and although they don’t speak English fluently, their sincerity and warmth transcends the barrier. Servings are very generous, price is affordable and the smell of the kebabs are divine. Next time, I’ll try their burgers.
This place was indeed a surprise. This is the only George’s I know that serves Kebabs, and they are Superb. They are served with rice and a side of tomato, onion, butter and olives. You can mix these ingredients to your liking and they just work together perfectly. Their kebabs are just juicy, savoury, and freshly cooked. Also the guy in charge was very kind. He even taught us how to eat the Kebab properly (mix the butter with the tomato and rice). Overall, a good place to go for Persian Kebab and Rice.
The current owners have returned to a delicious burger!!! The new menu Is absolutely phenomenal! Kabobs are loaded with flavour!!! You are greeted with a shalom and treated to a home cooked meal!
Love their Persian food.Haven’t tried their subs yet. My fiance tried the Burger and it was good. Their Iranian food is for sure very tasty. Amazing rice and meat.
Hidden gem of Winnipeg! Been there several times and every time I and my friends go there, it tastes as fresh as the last time. AMAZING! AMAZING! AMAZING! Persian cuisine – We’ve tried their chicken and rice platter as well as their beef kabob (called Koobideh) and rice platter. Best part is that it’s extremely reasonably price. In fact, it’s cheap if I may for freshly made food. MUST TRYYYYY, FELLOW WINNIPEGGERS!
Love the Persian food there. Cheap and amazing in both tease and size. They have an ad problem though. I don’t even know there is Persian food in Winnipeg, just accidentally walk into it one day. Glad I did for sure
This is the best Persian food i have had in Winnipeg. Love the platter size and presentation. Sometimes they both come together to serve the food. Very friendly service. I love how they welcome and say good-bye to everyone with so much love!The only drawback is that the owner can barely speak English and also it is only him and his wife; so if it is busy, the serving can be quite slow. The name of the restaurant is still same as the one with previous owner; it is: George and submarine!! When I asked why did he change the name, he said because of his poor English, he hasn’t had a chance to go after changing the name! Anyways, I recommend their food!
