With a number of the Smitty’s restaurants in the city getting modern facelifts, this one won’t hold up much longer. Me and my boyfriend came in for lunch last weekend and were satisfied with the food, but unimpressed with the decor and upkeep of the place. Food: He ordered the bacon cheeseburger with fries and I ordered a bowl of the mushroom barley soup as it was a late lunch, I wasn’t that hungry and expected to be picking fries off of his plate. I expected the soup to be a cream of mushroom soup with barley, but instead it was a beef broth with large mushroom slices, barley and other vegetables and was SO delicious!The burger came to the table open faced, but with the top half bun up, with the lettuce and tomato flat down on the plate. This was unconventional and not functional for assembling the burger as it had to be scooped up and turned over to put on condiments and put it together. There was a bottle of ketchup on the table, but there were plastic packages of relish and mustard on the plate. In my opinion you need to either have bottles, or the burger should come with them already on, this isn’t a carnival but then again it’s Smitty’s so why did I expect anything more? The fries were thin and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, just the way we like them. I had a couple bites of the burger and it was actually really good and my boyfriend also enjoyed it. Interior: Wow it’s bad in there. The 1990’s called they want their fireplace and wallpaper back. It was old and fairly grubby looking. The washrooms were just as bad and my boyfriend said the men’s bathroom had a broken soap dispenser with no soap. The display case at the front where desserts normally reside was dark and full of condensation, with printed out photos of desserts taped to the inside of it. Wow, nice. We didn’t go into the bar, but it looked fairly busy in there for 4:00 PM on a Sunday so good for them.
Ordered a single breakfast with tea on a Weekend….. $19.00!Food was only warm, although it was good. Servers were friendly. Based on price, would not return!
Good cheap wings and beer on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s. VLTS and sports. If you want to do these 4 things at a very cheap price. Then go to Smitty’s. If your expecting an amazing dining experience……. Then don’t go to Smitty’s.
Henderson’s hothouse!. This place kills! The wings are 5 the best in Winnipeg! Thursday and Friday is definitely the place to be at!25 Apr, 2015Fun and friendly. I have eaten in the restaurant and had great food. Their steak melts in your mouth and the chicken wings are some of the best in the city! Friday nights are karaoke in the lounge. The upbeat staff keep the drinks coming and the mood light! Fun times.
Servers are amazing – wings rock. The guy that works there …b### always seems high or drunk or something. its like he has no clue. the servers tho.. are fantastic i prefer to go there on nights when hes not working . the girls always take such good care of our table. love this place
Best FOOD on the strip. I have been here many of times for there excellent wings but recently discovered that there salads are AMAZING!!!
