I went here for lunch and was fairly impressed. Small eat-in area but food packs a big punch. I had the basic meal 2 – 4 cabbage rolls and 8 cheddar potatoe perogies. Very filling and tasty but on the more expensive side it came to $15 without a drink. Wish I would have taken a pic of the food to add to the review. I will be going back !

Absolutely love this place! Everything is awesome. The Borscht – DELICIOUS, the sausage – YUM, the perogies OMG (the sauerkraut are my favourite) and those cabbage buns… I stop in regularly for the sampler platter and am never disappointed. Great hearty dinner for a great price. Plus the lady who owns it is an absolute gem. Love this addition to St James, this is definitely one of my favourite restaurants in the area but even if it was further from home I’d travel for it.

I stopped in for lunch today. I only had the perogies and my initial impression was that it was a little pricey(especially pop! Tip: pick up one at Mac’s for a lot less). I do not mind paying a few extra coins if the food is worth it and they did not disappoint. I am all Ukrainian and grew up with the best perogies ever(my sister has taken that title over the years)…these give hers a run for her money. The key is the light dough which they have nailed. (a little more salt would have been nice but a very minor point)…the cheddar/potato filling was plenty and perfectly proportioned…the onions and bacon bits right on point…it takes a lot to inspire me to write a public review…Kozak Foods deserve it…I hope they survive as they seem like lovely folks with really good food but no marketing that I have ever seen…one of those spots your friends don’t know about yet…

Not the best Ukrainian food in Winnipeg and pricey for what you get. There is not much variety to choose from on the takeout menu. They are open random hours and there was nothing modern or creative on the menu that sparked my taste buds. Baba’s basic recipes on their own are not enough to get me back. Not really suited for the health conscious hipster foodie.

Had the sampler came out in a reasonable amount of time and for a fair price. Love that there’s a new mom and pop shop in St.James. I will definitely continue to support them hopefully as they grow.
