If you’re expectations are basic enough, the Penguin is a decent place to have a beer or two and watch some sports. Do not ever expect to get wowed by the food or the service or you will be disappointed.
Typical pub fare. Nachos have uncooked cheese or not enough toppings, wings portions seem out of touch with the price you pay.I would say to sum it up you just don’t get what you pay for. Most of the waitresses are relatively nice a few just seem to be not as willing to help.It’s a lounge in a hockey rink, but you shouldn’t walk away feeling like you paid too much for not enough.
Getting worse?. When we first started going to watch hockey, I was thrilled to have a pub to enjoy. The sad selection of beer aside….the food was passable. I enjoyed to trustworthy chicken wings with the usual pepper sauce. Suddenly the prices start to creep up..but selection didn’t change..beer still bla…then the quality started to go down..the friendly waitresses left…now I have to serve myself..and the debit has the nerve to ask if I want a tip?..what for? We ordered 2 baskets of wings..one hot..one medium..they both had the SAME SAUCE!..and it has an odd flavour…bbq??mixed in with it?…I gave up on food. We used to stay after games and enjoy ourselves. .now we go elsewhere afterwords..at least when I spend 50 bucks on food there..its worth it.
By far the worst service. The rare time a server comes by she’s rude and unprofessional. I have stopped ordering… Or attempting to order from the servers who constantly fail to notice people sitting at tables, likely because they are busy throwing themselves at hockey players or chatting amongst themselves.
It took over an hour for my meal to arrive. That’s too long for a sandwich, especially if you’re only there to watch an hour-long game. Long after the game ended I cancelled the order. As I was leaving, they brought the cancelled order to my table with no napkins, cutlery or condiments. Way to go, team.
