The food here is ok. If you stick with the pub food its a little better, nothing fancy doesn’t seem like anything is done from scratch. In the dining room service has always been great waitresses are incredibly friendly however service in the lounge has been pretty slow the couple times I’ve been always waiting (seems like lots of regulars here that the girls just can’t escape from conversation with sometimes)
Had the brisket covered in BBQ sauce and it was delightful! Sticky and sweet just like a BBQ sauce should be! Brisket itself was a bit tough, but it’s brisket, that’s to be expected! Enjoyed it greatly but steer clear of the Texas fried rice, drenched in soy sauce.
Been to Big Guys for lunch with the office, and for dinner at the Bar with friends. A great place to be yourself and relax. Favourites are the smoked beef ribs and definitely the wings. (Louisiana Hot). The Bar is busy usually, when I asked about reservations the restaurant is large so reservations are not needed. Parking is good and near our place so we will be back.
This is one of our favourite restaurant and lounges. The service is fast and friendly. Their wings are GREAT, but their Blackened Cajun Wings are the best in town. I love the beef ribs and my wife loves the baby backs, but their menu has lots of variety. The burgers are homemade and delicious, Great pastas, and tasty Fajitas. Huge portions at a great price. The lounge is a great place to watch a game. Lots of big TVs, and great food and drink prices. (especially wing nights)We have been going to Big Guy’s for years and plan to continue for many more.
Barely passable. We’ve ban here a few times but I remember better service. There were 2 or 3 waireses standing and talking for much of the time we were there but they didn’t have time to visit our table to see I’d everything was OK. The waitress did come by about 5 minutes after serving us to ask if all was good, but she was leaving before I could finish saying alright! The food is average quality. The beef ribs $22 came cave man style (huge bones with raggedy meat attached) with so much sauce that you never taste the beef. The baked potato was dried out like they had it in the oven all day. The deep fried shrimp dinner came with popcorn sized shrimp.The search continues.05 Jan, 2014The Wings are Awesome. We just had the wings (dry with lemon pepper). They are excellent! They sent the wings or with no side sauce, but brought some Ranch when requested.
Good food, great soup. My wife & I used to frequent Big Guys quite a bit when we still lived in St Vital. Consistently good food, good service with reasonable prices. The highlight for us has always been their chicken mulligatawny…it is soooooooo f’n good! We live across the city now but still call about the mulligatawny and have no problem driving to get our fix. Hmmmm….wonder what their soup of the day will be today.
Food and service was good, but no free refills for a soda the size of a shot glass and not being informed is brutal. It may seem petty, but when you see $5 for a soda and refill on the bill….well…
