ADORE THIS PLACE. Same fam running it as when it was the Downs Dairy Delight on Portage & Isbister in the 80s. Best fries in town, gravy is PHENOMENALLY beefy, burgers are super flavourful and dont taste machine-y, chicken fingers are the GOOD ones with real actual meat, onion rings are ridiculous (in a good way). Huge portions, fantastic variety of hard AND soft ice cream, as well as a full selection of sundaes, shakes (two words: ROOT BEER. Enough said), better-than-blizzards, parfaits, splits, etc. this place is a gem. Keep up the amazing work, you guys!
The food is great and always fresh ! Cant go wrong with the French Fries as theyre consistently delicious and you get more than your value for the price. Burgers are huge and tasty ! Just love this place !!!
Dairy Delight has been one of my family’s staple summer burger joints for years. The value of the food in terms of quantity and quality is excellent for what you pay – usually. I was very disappointed this evening, when I went to pick-up an order of chicken fingers and fries with gravy on the side and an additional order of chicken fingers. When I arrived, I was informed of the cost (19.44) and inquired if it had been punched in individually as it would be cheaper to punch it in as the chicken fingers and fries meal with a side of gravy and an additional order of chicken fingers. The girl at the cash register was nice as they usually are, however she brushed it off and told me it was actually cheaper the way they punched it in. As that did not sound right, I verified all combinations of prices and went to show her that had they punched it in as the meal – it would have actually cost me only 16.00. When I was waiting to inquire, another woman who took the order told me they punched it in because that is what she understood on the phone. I asked her why it would not be a the meal, and she stated because we gave you more fries. I said that I did not care about the amount of fries, and asked even if that was the case, why was I charged $2.45 for a side of gravy when I ordered a fries & gravy except I did not want the fries to get soggy so I asked for the gravy on the side. She then told me they have separate prices for gravy on the fries and gravy on the side. I have been ordering this for years and have never encountered this. What made this experience even more disappointing was that a lady who had ordered a hot meal before me received a complimentary burger or food of some sort as a gesture of customer service when her order was keyed in wrong. In summary, if you are looking for a place for an awesome chili burger, some good fries etc… then Dairy Delight is a place for you. Just BE CAREFUL, because they will nickel and dime you wherever they can. Their customer service and math skills are lacking, and remember if you are ordering pick-up over the phone: be specific about whether or not you want them to punch the items in individually or as it is on the menu.
Highly recommended. Great burgers – feels like coming home everyone is so friendly. Don’t even hesitate on this one – def go check it out!! Can’t wait to go again when it’s a bit nicer out so we can dine outside!!
This is where I go when I want a Fat-boy and fries with chili on the side. Actually, I will often just get fries with a side of chili because the portions are huge. Check before going in the winter because they do close for a period.
