Used to be our favourite sushi joint in the city! Owners changed in 2017, and it is legit low-quality sushi now; loose rolls, terribly seasoned, low quality ingredients. Single tear.
Great cozy place. Food great tasting and fresh. Great service. Clean bathrooms. Kids even tried sushi for their first time and actually ate them!!
2018 visitWell, I guess new owners took over this place and made changes to the menu and how they make the rolls. Im surprised that the new owners would change the food that dramatically since the main reason this place succeeded was of the way the food was made. Why change it??It just wasnt the same our last visit, darn it too, I loved this place.Prior to the new owners…(this was my review)…Another one of my favourite sushi restaurants in Winnipeg. They have always been consistent with service and quality. I’ll be honest though, they are in my neighbourhood, and I’m a little spoilt to have such a decent place so close by. A+ for service (always friendly and even the chef thanks us for coming)A+ for quality of food ( never had a bad meal for all the times I’ve eaten here)A+ for Value ( the prices are decent for the quality of food)A+ for decor (not that it truly matters to me, but comfy chairs at least)One of my favourite restaurants.
Sushi Ai. My No.1 go-to place for some good food. I’m a traveller, and I’ve been in every place of Canada. It’s not enough to say this reataurant is the best sushi restaurant there is. And trust me, I’ve been to plenty in the country. Not one sushi restaurant I’ve ever been to has such great interior and service. The chef is extra friendly and the sushi is such high quality. The prices are kind and the sushi is perfect sized for that good bite. Such a beautiful atmosphere and so professional. If only I didn’t have to travel so much, I’d eat here three meals a day. I highly, highly recommend this place, you gotta eat here.
Went on a first date here, by recommendation of my date.The quality of fish and everything was good. I like simple/traditional one-ingredient sushi, and the rolls were made as expected with nothing seeming out of place. The price vs size of rolls seemed like the rolls could be larger for the price. However considering the quality, decor of the restaurant and service, I would say this is a good restaurant to go to.Sadly my date didn’t transpire to a second date, however the restaurant itself was good that I would totally bring another here, or at least I plan to visit again.
Love this little gem in the South End! Been here many times and never disappointed! Service is great, and the sushi rolls are the perfect size to fit in your mouth! Highly recommend this place!
Sushi AI is one of my go to places when I’m in the mood for sushi. Their teriyaki beef is incredible too, I didn’t even know that beef could taste so flavourful. Everyone there is very friendly and I’ve always had a great experience at Ai. Highly recommended!
