Went for lunch with some co-workers. Food was OK, not inspired but also not a disappointment. As we were paying, I pointed out a sign saying that they may ask some patrons to pay before getting their food. The server told us that we were fine (obviously because we had already eaten). He explained to us that they only ask people with really dark skin to pay before eating. I am sure they have had 1 or 2 bad experiences with dining and dashing – but lumping a whole culture or ethnicity because of a couple or few incidents is quite the racist policy, and very unfortunate. Will not return.
This place is one of those places where you want something quick, cheap and then leave. The restaurant is minimal and the service is inattentive most of the time. I went with my friend who is Vietnamese as well so we both find humour in expecting no service and hearing the workers talking our language in the back. I ordered pho and didn’t receive a plate of bean sprouts and limes which is essential. The pho dac biet was decent. We had to get up and ring the bell to pay.
Always friendly, always fresh, might need to have some work done on the inside, but makes up for it with he magic in the kitchen ! My personal favourite is number 62- crispy chicken on fried rice !
Don’t go to try this restaurant! The worst restaurant ever in Winnipeg. The place is really dirty, especially, the floor!!!! The first time saw an restaurant with such dirty environment in Winnipeg!We order 4 ‘ deluxe beef noodle soup’ with $6.99 on the menu, but when we pay the bill, she charged me $34 for totally! Ridiculously,4*6.99plus tax should be $31.59!!! Then she told me because the price was increased, so it charges 25cents more for each. OMG! So why she increased the price but didn’t change the price on the menu? And!! The important thing is when I calculate the price she told me: 4*7.25plus tax should be $32.77. How come is $34? I don’t mean I’m care about the $2, but this is a deceit!!!!! Feel really angry! When I said why you don’t change the price on the menu, she said ‘ our customers knew that, they understand us’. Come on, are you sure customer will understand you that you changed the price by yourself but not on the menu? I believe they charge customer with different prices!!!!!! Never come back because they are frauds!!!!!
Food and service is great!. Food is really good.I usually get the deluxe pho (beef noodle soup) and fried chicken on fried rice!The pho is amazing. One of the best i have tried in the city. Portions of the food is good for the prices also!I always come back! haha
My favorite local restaurant ever!. I eat here a lot. I usually get the 55, the 66 or the pho. Fast service and delicious food. What more can you ask for? I see a lot of people here complaining about the prices. Here’s the trick: when her husband serves you, you get the right prices, his wife on the other hand charges extra. I don’t know why. Whenever I go it’s usually him but I have had that problem before so I can vouch for it. The decor isn’t much but they have plugs on the wall so you can charge your phone while you eat. Honestly I’m there for the food. Decor is the last thing on my mind.Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Winnipeg!
Love this restaurant. I have been in Alberta for the past year and have missed the pho at KG Saigon!I went for pho today and it was delicious!!!!I don’t know what the other reviewers are complaining about.The owner always talks to me and greets me at the door with a Hello Michael.I feel like I am at home at KG Saigon.Danny is returning for a visit on June 27,28,29 and I’m looking forward to visiting with him.Love the food and love the service!
