Water + Bread. Any place in town that has that great Portuguese water bread? It came from here. That is all.

This place is discussing. The people are rude and the product is horrible. I tried there pasties de Nata it’s hard and burnt, there bread is stale and taste old when they claim it’s fresh. I’ve been to the new Portuguese store ( viena do castelo) and it’s hands down amazing. I would not go back anymore to Lisbon!

I tried there pastries at a function today & wasnt satisfied. The traditional custard tart was burnt & overly sweet i prefer Vienas do castelo better. The coconut tart was extremely hard & unetable. Found the platters expensible & lacking flavour.

Mmm, custard tarts. don’t know how they make that pastry so chewy yet delicate, with a slight salty contrast to the custard. all that and amazing water bread.

Pasteis de nata. I agree that you won’t always get the warmest welcome here. It’s kinda dingy and doesn’t seem particularly well-stocked. That doesn’t matter to you, because you’re there for one thing: pasteis de nata aka the little egg custard tarts that come in trays of 6 for $5.50. They aren’t pretty–in fact, they may look burned to you. That’s how they’re supposed to look. May sure you get the ones baked today, not yesterday.

Great pastries. This a cute little Portuguese bakery. I’ve had their water bread at O Tacho, across the street – it’s a nice bread, with a chewier exterior. Their kaiser buns comes in packages of 6 and 12; a package of 6 is $1.30. The buns have a very flaky exterior and leave a ton of crumbs everywhere when you start eating it – not my fav.The turnovers (comes in apple and cherry) are HUGE ($1.25 each). I chose the apple turnover and I really enjoyed it since it wasn’t overly sweet like the typical turnover. The egg or custard tarts are sold in a larger size if you want to buy in bulk but they are also sold prepackaged 6 smaller portions for $5.50. They’re not the prettiest looking tarts since there’s some caramelized spots on the custard (it looks burnt but it’s not). The tarts remind me of creme brulee that’s been encased in a tougher pastry shell – it’s a sweet little treat that’s worth trying! Many of the items are not labeled so it was unfortunate that the person behind the counter was quite cold when I inquired about a few bakery item. Oh well, I’ll chalk it up to a case of the Mondays, at least their pastries made up for the less than warm reception! They are open 7 am to 5:30 pm Monday through Saturday, closed on Sundays. It’s old school so no debit or credit, just plain ol’ deniro is accepted
