Summit Cafe was featured on an episode of You Gotta Eat Here and immediately made my list of must try’s. During Fried Chicken Fest, I made the trek out to Stony Mountain to finally see what Summit Cafe had to offer.Summit Cafe embodies everything that comes to mind when I think of great comfort food. The staff were so welcoming and friendly. We were at some point greeted by every staff member that was on shift that afternoon. Two of the ladies even took the time to come over and talk to us about Chicken Fest, our experience and thanked us for choosing to dine with them. Exceptional service!Hands down, the Southern Belle is the best Fried chicken that I’ve had. It was not greasy, and the flavour from the tea brine was delicious! I paired my chicken burger with their famous French Onion Soup and it’s no surprise why this dish is what they’re known for. My boyfriend got the fried onions as his side and they were also super tasty. The atmosphere was super cozy and I loved all of the local artwork that was featured throughout the restaurant. The penny floor is super cool and even the little details in their menu (bonded together with an antique spoon) really made the whole experience that much more enjoyable. My only complaint was being seated so close to the entrance as it was a very cold day when we visited. We will definitely be making a trip back to Stony Mountain (when the snow is gone) to try more of what SC has to offer!

An interesting and unique spot. Walking in I for sure noticed the handmade decore around the restaurant, and I almost didn’t notice the floor made out of pennies! Looking at the menu, they had some interesting sounding items. I’m not much of a burger person, but I thought I would try the Spicy Chorizo Burger: Angus beef patty, chorizo sausage patty, queso sticks, jalapeo jack cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickle and chipotle lime mayo. It was alright, nothing necessarily had me wowed. Got a side of coleslaw and a poutine. Coleslaw was alright and poutine was okay, the fries tasted like they were old and were just reheated as they were only warm when they came and a bit on the soggy side. I had a bite of my friends BBQ pulled pork and Mac N Cheese sandwich, and thought that was the winner. Overall if you’re a burger person maybe you’ll enjoy this joint a bit more as they have more options, even the option of building your own!

Was very much looking forward to this place after a day of skiing and reading the reviews on here, as well as watching You Gotta Eat Here episode, I was rather disappointed unfortunately. It’s a cute, eclectic place was quite charming and all the ladies including the owner were quite lovely and will definitely come back to give it another shot if I’m out that way skiing again. That being said the food was in need of some much needed improvement. We both ordered the burgers. My boyfriend had fries and a cup of soup which was tomato vegetable. I upgraded mine to the French onion soup and a side of sauted vegetables. My boyfriends soup lacked seasoning and had a bit of a bitter after taste, and my French onion soup looked and tasted of dirty dishwater with a large amount of oil, the baguette and cheese were not toasted or broiled properly and the bread was soaked with the oil with a cold just barely melted top. I asked for it to be sent back and got fries and gravy instead. The food came and my vegetables were lovely and not overcooked, the Gravy was great, but both of our fries were very soggy despite looking crisp, a little salt and pepper made everything flavorful. The menu states that the burgers are made the way it states and there are nice compromises, but I did ask if the relish could be taken off the burger and a side of mayo instead, which the waitress said shouldn’t be a problem. It came plain and we had to add our condiments which I thought was odd. The burgers were great, but I did bite into it and pull out a hair. That was it for me. So I sat and drank my tea and wondered if I should say something. The waitress asked and I felt bad as I had sent the soup back so I didn’t say anything which was rare for me. My boyfriend said I should really let them know and the owner noticed I wasn’t eating and I finally said something. I felt horrible as I’m pretty sure it was her hair as length and color looked like hers. She was lovely and insisted she would take it off the bill. The cook needs a bit of work in cooking and obviously inexperienced. I would come back and give it another shot though and see if I was just on an off day.
