I’m not sure what happened to the rest of my review from my last visit..(below)? Came here for lunch with my spouse a few weeks ago and ordered a few dishes. We enjoyed our visit last time so thought we’d come here again. Ordered Tuna Gomae and although it was tasty I was missing the spinach. This version had tuna and avocado for $11.99. Every sushi restaurant you go to has a different take on it. If you get the regular Gomae you get spinach and Gomae sauce. I probably didn’t read the menu right when I ordered the tuna Gomae but not worth $11.99 for a few pieces of tuna and avocado with the Gomae sauce. I do like their sushi pizza here! Tasty! Ordered shrimp tempura which was pretty good. Ordered a few rolls which were pretty good as well. Spicy comboAlaska roll Crunch sake roll Explosion roll We had leftovers for dinner later on and the atmosphere here is nice. The waitress was very pleasant. -April 2017: Came here with family last week for dinner. I had never visited this sushi restaurant before. This was my first visit. The atmosphere is very nice! Love the decor and even the private Japanese style seating private rooms are here too. Great for a group of friends or family. Ordered gomae…

This was my 2nd time here at Asoyama. The first time I came with 3 friends, not many tables in the restaurant at 6pm on a weekend and service was terrible. I decided to give it another try for lunch on a Friday and again, service was not good. I waiting 6-8 mins before getting up to look for my server. I noticed there was only another table there which was disappointing to see. I got the nigiri bento for $20.95 which came with what’s pictured below and miso soup. I definitely have had better bento boxes for much cheaper. The nigiri and California roll (made with real crab meat) was good.

I absolutely adore this place. I appreciate the effort they put into the place itself. It is the perfect dinner date. I have been in the tatami rooms (?) and I really liked the privacy and service plus it’s super cute. They add 15% gratuity to your bill however so just keep that in mind. If not the tatami rooms, the dining area with the small curtains and tiny fences around the table is cute as well. I could see the sushi chefs cooking at a close distance and other people in the other tables but it still provides a bit of privacy and exclusivity. Now, the food. I would pay money for good quality reasonably priced sushi but i feel like it is still a bit pricey and a couple or few dollars more than what I wouldve expected it to cost especially for standard rolls. We have tried several sushis and spider roll, twister roll are my two favourites so far. We always, always get twister roll. I was disappointed to learn that the party trays are chef selected sushi choices though..??? What’s up with that? Anyway, yesterday, I tried their tempura bento and tempuras were not crunchy at all like when you’re frying something and the temperature is not high enough so it just ends up being doughy and absorbing all the fat. The price, subpar tempura and their choice to make their party trays chef selected are the reasons I’m giving this a 4.5ish and not a 5. It is still one of my favourite place and I would just have to be pick which sushi to get carefully so it would be worth my money. Will be back

Delicious sushi, I loved the atmosphere. The booths with shades between them made it appear upscale and private. I wish we had been able to get a table in one. My only issue was they were very busy on Friday night (like most restaurants) and they were short staffed. They really could have used another server. We wait 10-15 minutes just for the pop we ordered and a lot of tables sat with dirty dishes for a long time. Hopefully, it will be a bit better the next time we go.

The food was amazing and the service was top notch. Great looking room and the food was tasty. Myself and my family received all our food within 15 min. Amazing! We will be back.

A very pleasant experience. Waitress was super friendly prompt and accommodating. Food was delicious, fresh with good presentation. Atmosphere was clean, very nice Japanese decor. We were at Umi sushi earlier and received awful service to the point of not being served at all. We were very grateful to receive completely the opposite service from this restaurant. Thank you!
