When we arrived, the ambiance was kind of cold and dark. The way it works is you order your food and pay first at the front counter before you sit down and they bring the food to your table. They have pictures of the base menu items on the wall so that’s handy for ordering.We were informed that peking duck and pork belly were their most popular items. We ordered a peking duck bao, kimchi pork belly poutine, and their special of the night, Taiwanese peking duck stuffed pancake.The food came out pretty quickly. The duck in the bao was a touch on the dry side and and could have used some more flavour. The kimchi pork belly fries were great! Seasoned fries topped with a very generous amount of pork belly, shredded cabbage, green onions, chicharon, and a drizzle of what I believe was sirarcha mayo. It was a great mix of different flavours and textures. There’s a version without the kimchi, but the kimchi really helps cut the richness of the whole dish. It was a good size for two people to share as a side. The surprise was the Taiwanese peking duck pancake. An order comes with two rolls and at first it seems simple – a pancake, green onion, duck, and hoisen sauce, but my partner, who is more critical of food than I am, loved it! He said he would have paid more for it than what we actually did! We would definitely come back to try the pancake and fries again. They also offer othe items like hotdogs, tacos, and periodic special dishes.
