Tried Beaujena’s at the food truck festival held on the McPhillips Casino lot. Ordered the 3/$15 death by bacon sliders and the grilled cheese. First of all, glad that this truck had a non meat option. I found that most trucks at this particular event were very meat heavy so it was nice that a vegetarian option was available. The wait was long, which is understandable if they’re making everything to order. However if the wait was long with only a handful of people in line then I can’t imagine how much longer it would be if there were a bigger crowd. The sliders were messy, meaty, and juicy for sure. It was mixed reviews in our group. Some found it satisfying while others weren’t as impressed. Personally I enjoyed it overall, however I wished that the pork belly had been crispy; without that it came off quite fatty. The bacon also had no texture to it. It was more like a slice of ham. The sweet chilli slaw was a nice addition but the all the flavours could have been rounded out more if there was a pickle for acid. The grilled cheese was enjoyable and had a good balance. Mild brie with a kick of spice and some tartness from the pickled veg. Though a bit small for price. In the future I would be interested to try some of their other menu items, however would probably avoid the truck during a busier festival, ie. Many Fest.

Stopped by the Beaujena bus for the first time this year and their menu is even better than last year. I had Death by Bacon – braised pork belly, crispy bacon, slaw and sweet chilie mayo on a bun – crazy good. My friend had chicken club which she said was really good. Noticed they have added a vegetarian option this year. Didn’t see any sign of the foie gras slider they had last year. Too bad because it was great.

My very first food truck experience couldn’t have been better. 7 dollars for a pickerel Po boy sandwich. Lovely! Just beautiful flavour and texture. I want to have one of these for lunch every day.

Something New on Broadway!. When I saw the bright yellow Beaujena’s food truck on Broadway for the first time a few weeks ago, I couldn’t resist trying it out. The service was charming and the food was delicious. My favourite dish so far is the chicken tagine – a mix of exotic spices, sweet apricots and perfectly cooked chicken over a bed of quinoa. A guilt-free, tasty lunch!

Delicious!!. I have tried several items on Beaujena’s Mobile and have not been disappointed by any of them. My first experience was with the pickerel po’boy. The pickerel cakes were creamy and moist, with a crisp exterior that gave that satifying crunch when you sank your teeth into it. The slaw on the sandwich was a perfect complement. On my next visit, much to my disappointment, there was no pork cheek sandwich, so I tried the new pork cutlet sandwich with mushroom gravy. All I can say is yummy!! A generous portion of pork and the gravy was flavourful and complemented the meat perfectly. Third time was the chicken tagine. Loved the quinoa salad and the slaw. A forkful of both with some of the chicken was a perfect bite. Also sampled the cheesecake. No denying that a silky plain cheesecake topped with maple syrup and real bacon bits is a bit of heaven, but would have liked to have seen all components baked together…but that’s just me!!Heading over on Friday to sample their latest creation. Can’t wait!!

What Winnipegers have been craving. The Beaujena’s truck has been on Broadway for a few weeks now and I have eateb there at least five times. My favorites are the pickerel po’boy and the chicken tagine. I had the chicken today and must say that the Morroccan spices along with the chick peas and apricot sm,ell and taste devine. And where else are you going to get quinoa with zuchinni and butternut squash? I think the slaw is the same one that comes with the po’boy – red cabbage and apple with a tart French dressing. Of course there are still those who love hotdogs in Winnipeg – God bless them. But I’ll take the Beaujena’s truck over weiners made from who knows what, any day.
