Music lovers. I love a place that has live entertainment and the Bella Vista does it for us. Local acts performing their music and decent food served in a friendly family style atmosphere. Open Mikes are a lot of fun to watch and maybe next time I can persuade my wife to do a number, she’s a great singer, just a little shy.
NOT so good. My first time here was whatever, nothing to write home about. My second last visit wasn`t good – we walked in the door and the bartender said the server hadn`t showed and they were only serving regulars which I understand, but, well, sorry if I only come once a month and not everyday… The last time I went my lasagna tasted like it had been at the bottom of the freezer for a year and a half and I couldn`t eat it, the meats in it tasted sour (yes there was more than one kind of meat in it). There will be no more times. Would not recommend.
Not too bad. Was brought here by a life long winnipeger who swore this was the best place for pizza in the city. Maybe because of my high expectations I was a bit disappointed when it arrived but it wasn’t bad and have had much worse for similar prices. Haven’t been back since but wouldnt be adverse to a return visit
I’ve heard good things about this place on the weekends, so maybe it has a different chef on those days but when I went here my food took forever to come out (over an hour), and my fianc was already done eating her food by the time mine came. When it did come the salad still had ice on it and the sauce for the fettuccini was extremely watery. When I asked for the food to be taken back I could hear the cook shouting at the waitress about the food. He then ce to the door of the kitchen and glared at me for a couple of minutes before going back into the kitchen. Overall an unpleasant dining experience.
Music AND pizza? And beer?. Stopped by here with my boyfriend and roommate after a night of wandering the neighbourhood this summer. Wasn’t sure what to expect. Had lived within 3 blocks of this place for a couple years now and never been, though I had admired the wafting garlic aromas many a time. Honestly had a tough time finding the way into the building (oh, shush), but once the door had been mastered it was easy from there on out. The lovely blonde waitress (sorry, forgot your name even though I have been back twice now) suggested a few things, and mentioned that the chef makes all the bread products from scratch, and most of the ingredients come from DeLuca’s. Had a pepperoni and bacon pizza, which was lovely. Crust is amazing and the toppings weren’t overly greasy. They have live music a couple nights a week, and a full bar. The atmosphere can be really electric, or really mellow, depending on the crowd.
Service was great. Food ok. They don’t make their own pasta, pretty sad for an Italian place. We had to send our pizza back because they forgot to make it with one of the toppings we ordered. Then we asked for some balsamic and olive oil for our pizza crusts, only to be told they don’t have either. We were not impressed. That being said the pizza was good once they finally got it right. The server more than did her job, and I felt bad for her having to constantly apologize for the kitchens short comings. I might try it again if someone suggested going, but it’s not going to be my first choice.
