Food was underwhelming for price point. One piece of French toast, side of bacon and the potato Latke tower (2 Latke, 2 eggs and some corned beef) was $30. Would attempt again but do not recommend breakfast with those prices.
Food was okay. I understand it can be busy at lunch but the service was awful! It took 20 mins for a waitress to take our order for two bowls of soup. Then it took another 20 mins to get the soup. Will not return. Better lunch spots with quick service and better food.
Just OK food nothing to rave about. Their combo meal was not as good as I thought it would be. I was expecting a choice of a sandwich and soup with the combo but it wasn’t, instead thechoices are all junk and carbs. Service wasn’t so friendly. Won’t be back.
Went for burger week and after sitting down we had 1 drink and no exaggeration the waitress didn’t come back for an hour. When we finally got our food she gave us one burger to share even though we ordered one for each of us! After waiting an hour we didn’t even care or appreciate the burger at all. Apparently they ran out of fry oil or something but nobody came to tell us or apologize or anything. I sat for 45 min with an empty soda and left still hungry 🙁 Rediculous!!! Its not even a big place. The food is great but seriously can you just improve the service? Its so bad!!
We sat there for 10 min while the staff talked to each other and walked around us. No menu no drinks, nothing. They literally made us feel unwanted. On the most rarest occasions have I ever walked out of a restaurant. We walked out of Bernstein’s. Never going back, not even to the grocery store. We went to Stella’s instead.
We have been wanting to try Bernstein’s for some time and finally ventured across the city one Saturday afternoon. Tried the matzo ball soup (half order gets 1 ball, full order gets 2 and is a very large portion). Not bad even though it is only broth, chicken and carrots in the soup. I enjoyed the potato latkes with sour cream and my guest savoured every bite of his house-made, warm corned beef on hand cut rye bread. Only complaint is the staff. It was not busy on this visit yet took more than 10 minutes to get a bowl of soup. Then the young staff sat around at one of the empty tables and proceeded to engage in a discussion about meat slaughtering, blood letting, kosher practices and why one should be a vegetarian. Not exactly appropriate nor appetizing in the presence of customers.
Went for burger week to try their much anticipated fried chicken burger and wow what a huge disappointment ! Charred heavy dough batter with a sliver of chicken that tasted spoiled. Quality control people smh
