We decided to try Buccacinos at 9:00pm on a Friday night. When we arrived the restaurant and lounge were packed looked like a birthday or Christmas party.A pitcher of beer was on special but they had run out so it was no longer available. We ordered drinks which came quickly and the muscles in the marinara sauce which were spicy and deliciousWe each had a salad my husband ordered the Cesar which was desperately tasteless. Like lettuce dressed in plain mayo. My salad however was great it was the pea and honey marinated beet salad which was topped with spicy fried jalapeos. We were notified the fettuccini that was supposed to be included in my husbands meal was no longer available and he would have to have linguini instead. We didnt really care. Our waiter was quick to offer drink refills and water It seems after waiting for a while for our entrees the waiter came back to our table to ask what my order was as it never made it to the kitchen. The warm rolls we received were not great. Reminded me of the rolls u buy at superstore and heat in your oven. After re-placing my order our food came fairly quickly. My meal was the Marsala a lightly breaded veal topped with a marsala cream sauce with mushrooms. Accompanied by seasonal vegetables and spaghetti pomodoro. The entire dish lacked seasoning The veal was tender, vegetables cooked well but the pasta was bland and slightly overcooked. My husband ordered the Pollo Gorgonzola, Gorgonzola cheese red wine rose sauce tossed with chicken breast, green peppers and fettuccini. This was also very bland and very rich. The table we were at was directly behind the servers station where the staff frequented. At times I found it difficult to have a conversation over the loud clashing of the utensils by the servers. Would I return to Buccacinos? For the reasonably priced drinks and mussels I would. The serving staff was also pleasant and helpful. The restaurant and restrooms were also clean thats a huge win in our books. Would I recommend this restaurant NO… we expected authentic fresh vibrant Italian flavors and were very disappointed with our pasta dishes.
I have only been here for the brunch and it was delicious!! Well worth the price and so many choices. Its definitely different than other breakfast menus but I just cant pass it up. Definitely recommend!
This brunch spot has been around for a while and even with all the newer brunch competition now – this is still my favourite!! Servers at the tables are friendly as always! However, the team serving the food at the buffet almost always look very unhappy to be there…
If you’re looking for a reasonably priced Italian Brunch Buffet on either Saturday or Sunday, this is the place! The buffet is opened from 10AM-1PM on Saturdays and 10AM-2PM on Sundays. If you sign up for their email subscription, they’ll even send you coupons! The buffet has everything you need, including soup of the day, shrimp cocktail, mussels, a wide selection of salads, French toast, banana and chocolate chip bread, pastries, and your classic breakfast options (scrambled eggs, French toasts, egg benedicts, bacon, ham, sausages, potatoes) and desserts (bread puddings, cookies, jam tarts and etc). The restaurant has a nice ambient and decent food. It is a great place for groups, including girls nights out and dates nights.
Had a delicious chicken parmesan sandwich for lunch here! Totally exceeded my expectations! The chicken was cooked perfectly, with the coating a bit crispy on the outside. Yum!
This review is for the weekend brunch as we haven’t Hit this place up outside of that. It’s no secret the Heavy Hitters like variety and all-you-can eat options. This place gets very crowded and busy as it wasn’t built for a buffet. The pro to that is that probably no one will be able to notice exactly how much you are mowing down! The buffet is exactly the same every week, no surprises. The homemade soup and salad options are very good. Mr. Hitter loves the pickled herring with dill sour cream. There is also delicious eggs Benedict, waffles and the usual hash browns and breakfast meat options. It would be nicer if they had more hot lunch options as all they offer are 2 hot pastas. The array of desserts is plentiful and a favourite is the bread pudding with caramel and brownie pudding. For 16.99 it is a good deal, even though there are better brunches in the city for a much higher cost. FYI – They will try to serve you coffee immediately upon entering, it is NOT included in the price and they don’t tell you, and will set you back about $3 per person.
Came here for dinner with my brother and his girlfriend on a Tuesday. We didn’t even know this, but they have a $11.95 pasta special on Tuesdays. There was a good number (but not all) that qualified for the special. The restaurant was surprisingly quiet, but seeing as it is the middle of summer, it makes perfect sense. When we entered, we were offered the patio, but it was a Winnipeg summer evening and it was stifling outside so we stayed in the dining room that was well air conditioned!Decor and service were good! The waitress was attentive and made sure my soft drink was topped up and came back routinely to check on my brother’s cocktails. The bread basket and salads came out prompt. I noticed the salad was somewhat small considering it is $5 extra if you order the pasta special, but it was tasty so I will give them that. The pastas and entrees were very well made. I had the cannelloni and it was generously portioned with lots of well seasoned meat and a marinara sauce with perfect tartness! The Veneto was well seasoned and came with plump and perfectly cooked shrimp. The portobello Gorgonzola though tasty left my brother not quite full. It came with some spaghetti marinara and it could have been a bit more generous. We ended up heading down the street for a crepe to cap off the evening. All in all, the pastas and entrees were well made. I think some of the portions sizes can be reviewed, but other than that, we all left having enjoyed our dinner. If I come back, I will have no hesitation in ordering a couple of appetizers to start off the meal.
