Easily a 5.0 rating. Definitely the place to go to when your craving quality authentic Indian food. The curry is flavorful and not watered down and the naan bread is hot, soft and flaky. The staff look professional and helpful. Will come back for sure.

Love the location and choices. Lunch special is a little sloppy.. aka watery goat curry. The samosa used to be great, but now it’s too greasy and the potatoes isnt well cooked.

It is an adequate experience. It’s in a nice cozy area and the location is quite convenient but I have noticed on considerably sunnier days that it can feel hot in there, I find sometimes it’s considerably humid as well but that is probably more a fault of the Hydro building more than anything. On one lunch rush I had visited and I personally received satisfactory service but what I saw kind of made me not want to come back. I feel I waited a little bit longer than I should have as I only ordered some pakora but what probably made it feel longer was a person ahead of me in the queue complaining about waiting long. The person ahead of me mentioned that they had been waiting for 30 minutes and one of the front end staff mentioned that they hadn’t have been waiting that long or couldn’t have but the customer referenced their receipt. I realize you can’t expect prompt service from a popular restaurant at a busy time but it definitely makes me feel more antsy and dampens the atmosphere of the place. After receiving my order I checked the time on my receipt and noticed the time on the receipt was off. The receipt had said I ordered 10 minutes earlier then the soonest that I could have. Going by the receipt it would be fair to assume I had waited 20 minutes for a very simple order but in reality I only waited 10 minutes (I would know, I had a bus to catch). I still feel this is a little long for what I ordered but again, it was lunch rush. However that was not all that made me indecisive if I wanted to come back. There was a front end staff member who seemed very uninterested to be there while working and it did not make me want to come back. While waiting for my order I had seen her serve up the people ahead of me and it appeared to me she was scooping up around the lamb for one of their dishes. It doesn’t leave me with confidence that I would get what I pay for if I ever came back. Later on she goes to fill their meal up with the vegetable of the day and the disinterest she exhibits made me think the food disgusted her or that there was something wrong with it. I don’t think it’s too much to ask for that the person putting the food on your plate put the food on your plate with a smile and in a way that makes you feel that that person is proud to be serving you the food their establishment made.I don’t think I would come back around lunch time if it means the service isn’t as good. I stop by a moderate amount on Saturday evenings after work and I’ve generally had a good experience when it’s not so busy.

This is upscale fast food at its best! The atmosphere was modern and clean and bright. The service was fast and included a lovely and friendly owner who tended to the cashier. Everything I have ever ordered here was perfectly seasoned and absolutely delicious. (PS. Their garlic naan is addictive!) They also have a mix of extra condiments you can add to your meal, such as raita and various pickles which I always get. The carrot pickle is especially good. It’s also something to note that I once ordered a featured prawn curry and after mentioning to the owner that it might be nice to have the shrimp tails removed prior to cooking and serving to make it easier to eat, they took it to heart and agreed (so now the prawns have no shells)! Talk about down to earth and putting the customer first!! Excited to also now hear that they have a liquor licence, so I can get a cold beer to go with their delicious and spiciest foods!! Would highly recommend.

DineoutGal is a very experienced Foody so I understand she sets the bar high. Personally, I had the lamb combo on the pic yesterday, went back again today at 5 pm and ordered the same thing to go with an extra nan bread. The lamb curry accompanied with mushrooms and other sides is extremely tasty !! Going back, apparently everyday for a while.

I have always loved Clay Oven and this express location was superb. As soon as we walked in we loved the decor and layout of this location. My partner and I ordered the express lunch combos, one butter chicken and the other lamb curry. The quality and quantity of food in each of these combos was beyond exceptional. The food was fresh and very tasty, I was very happy with the portions and the amount of meat we were given in each of the combos. The service from the staff was also very friendly and approachable.Overall, despite being an express version of the sit down restaurant, this location fell in line with the excellence and quality the Clay Oven brand is known to provide. We will definitely be going back soon.

Every time I have gone to this location I have had nothing but exceptional service; the staff greet me with a warm smile and the food is always fresh. There are a lot of options for vegetarians, that don’t take away from the flavour of Indian cuisine. The first time I went for lunch I ordered one of the express combos which consists of channa masala, rice ,salad & your choice of mixed vegetables. I was not disappointed the channa masala is delicious whether with the rice or with the salad. The naan is always being made fresh and from what I see the place is very clean when I go. Keep up the good work Clay Oven Express! 🙂
