Horrible service. I wasn’t going to review them at all as I thought I was just leave it be but I had gone back to The Forks with the family & I couldn’t help but notice that the ladies who had served me last time, were staring @ me & laughing. There were 2 ladies working the counter when I ordered. I had ordered soup from Fusian. Once I had tasted the soup, it was bland. I had gone up to the counter & asked if I could have some soy sauce. They told me that there was an extra cost for extra sauce. I clarified that I needed to pay for soy sauce & they said yes. I told them that the soup tasted bland & they want to charge me? They both pointed up to their sign where it said there was extra charge, both looking unhappy that I had said their food was bland. So I walked away & continued to eat the soup I had purchased as I wasn’t about to throw away a $12 soup. The ladies then continued to watch me eat their bland soup & laughed & talked to each other as they watched me the entire time I was sitting there.Fast forward. Coming to the Forks a few days later with my family & I sit by their counter as there was nowhere else to sit. Well, here are the ladies staring at me & talking the whole time I was sitting there.
I think the prices are a tad high, but the sushi was made perfectly and the lettuce wraps were among the best I’ve ever had. The sushi nachos are unique and tasty too – but I think I would choose the lettuce wraps over them.Good option in The Forks.
I’m a sushi lover and the lettuce salmon wraps I got were the best sushi I’ve ever had in Winnipeg and definitely the most innovative! Excellent friendly service! I would have had a picture had I not devoured it in two seconds it was so amazing:)
I’ve been to Fusian 3 times now since their opening, during my lunch break. I work in downtown and only have one hour for lunch, so I was extremely pleased to find out how quick their service is, even during the busy lunch hour!!! The cashiers have been so friendly and very nice to chat with. And most importantly the quality of the sushi is excellent. My favorite is the dynamite combo. It has a dynamite roll, maki roll, sashimi, salad, and soup! YUMMY! Writing this review is making me want to eat sushi again!
I was in town for work and went to the Forks on my lunch break. They totally changed the eating area. Love the new look. Very open concept. I was surprised to see that a new sushi kiosk had been setup, and it was run by the same people at Fusian Experience! I was super excited and noticed there were a lot of house favorites from the dine-in joint. I ordered the lobster roll and fusian tacos. Both were consistent with the original place, which was fantastic. Luckily the line up was modest and it didn’t take very long get my food. They are organized very well and couldn’t have have expected more. I think they have a good setup and have no doubt that they will continue to be successful. Btw… Winnipeg has way better sushi than Edmonton. Wish we had something similar. You guys need to set up shop here!
Based on previous comments on my reviews, I get the feeling that many find me to be a fair and well thought out reviewer which I appreciate. I do not like to leave poor reviews lightly and I enjoy sharing a great experience. With this in mind, and after several days thought, my impression of the Fusian Sushi location in the Forks Market is one of the least favourable I think I have had in a long, long time. I am not sure I’ve ever been as disappointed with an experience. To begin, I gave the location a 1.5 because I enjoyed their location front and because they give you a small buzzer which they activate once your food is ready and it is convenient, which I appreciate. However, the prices are at minimum $2 more than you would see at most specialty sushi restaurants, possibly due to venue. While that does not seem like much it is per item and as a percentage it’s more substantial. A $2 increase on a $4 item is still 50% more but even on the larger items the markup is on average 20% greater. Price would not be an issue if perhaps the portions gave cause. Prior to ordering I was very excited and splurged on what I assumed would feed myself and my dining partner but would, in no way, have fed more than myself once received. A $15 dollar ‘specialty roll’ was no bigger than a $4 roll I would have been happy to eat at a local restaurant in any neighbourhood. I also expected quality from the one off location from the Fusian Experience gang where it can be difficult to get a table. Again, I was disappointed. My small pieces of tuna did not taste overtly fishy but they were not the buttery texture I have enjoyed in better locations in this city. The veggie tempura toed the line of inedible and three of the four pieces that come in an order were bitter to the taste. For just over $35 I received a very small ‘specialty roll’, the worst tempura I’ve ever eaten, and some bland tacos whose only redeeming quality was the shell. The rice, one would think, would be at least adequate at a sushi place but my dining partner had even mentioned that it was not good. This meal was no more filling than it was flavourful. Better sushi and better value can be found in any fridge at your local grocery store. At the very least, one might expect better service to balance the budding restaurant’s shortcomings but there too, they did not deliver. With three people in the kiosk it seems they had designated jobs: a fryer in the back, a sushi roller in the front, and the person on cash. The person on cash was not at the front when I approached so, as one does, I smiled at the person facing the public and said hello. I received a tight lipped annoyed grimace in return and they immediately called for the cashier with an unkind tone. They turned to help, or at least put through my order but didn’t smile and made me feel as though I was being rushed despite no line. Overall, I expected so much more. Perhaps it was the new Forks Market atmosphere with a higher class artisan feel, perhaps it was the reviews from the stand alone restaurant, but whatever the case, I would not eat here again. The Forks is a location I frequent throughout the year but this location in particular I will avoid.
