I have nothing but good things to say about Ivory. I’ve eaten at both locations now and nothing has changed at the new besides it being a smaller space but it is by no means crowded. The service was impeccable, super friendly and attentive despite a full house on a Saturday night. We opted for the buffet as we always do because at around $20 a person for supper it’s beyond reasonable and you get a variety this way.All the food was hot and flavoured wonderfully. My favourites included butter chicken, akbari chicken, prawn mumtaz, masala gohbi and navrattankorma. They also served a very generous portion of garlic naan for the table.I was left wanting nothing and will definitely be back.
First time at the new location. Been to the old location 10 plus times for special family events. Serious downgrade in our opinion. Less food selection. Totally different environment. Old place was rich and comfortable, this place more diner like. PARKING FOR 6 CARS!!!!! Seriously, you want me to come and pay at your restaurant AND pay $13 to park. You only get to do that once to me. I’ll go down the street for much nicer experience in the future.
Came here for dinner with some colleagues. There are a few Indian restaurants downtown to choose from, this being the closest to Portage and Main. The decor is modern and there is both a bar and a dining room. We went on a weekday night and it was very quiet in the restaurant. For the greater part of our meal, our table were the only guests. As a result, service was both prompt and attentive. We took a brief look at the menu but decided that for the price, it really didnt make sense to order a-la-carte. The dishes are expensive and come in at $15 even for vegetarian dishes. The buffet offers up a wide selection of food and includes naan bread for only $5 more and is all you can eat. My favorites which include Navratan Korma, Palak Paneer, and Rogan Josh can all be found on the spread! There are also other favorites like Curry Dahl, Samosas, Pakoras, and butter chicken. The buffet also includes dessert which is a nice touch, if you still have room.As for value, maybe not the best for dinner. I would say there are other Indian buffets around the city that offers better quality and value. However, this place is a nice alternative if youre in the area and am very hungry.
The Swizzle Styx dined here last week and it was excellent. The restaurant is very nice and very clean. The service was top notch and the food was delicious and flavourful. Highly recommend
Went for the lunch buffet. Everything was tasty, hot, fresh and the selection was great for the price! Defiantly a good value. Atmosphere is nice, great place for a lunch date or business lunch. Friendly service. Overall a good experience.
Its is a very good place for Indian food lovers located in the centre of the city. Food tastes very similar to the food in India. In snacks samosas and crisp snack salad (bhel puri) were great. In appetizers tandoori chicken is simply amazing with cilantro chatni(sauce). Entrees has a wide variety for veg as well as for non veg. I personally liked butter chicken, lamb roganjosh, dal makhni and aloo gobhi. Garlic naan was very good. I felt desserts were on weaker side. Ice cream was not an option, even a vanilla ice cream would be great. I felt that jalebis and rasgullas should be served a bit warm to enhance the taste. Rasgulla with vanilla ice cream would be like heaven. Carrot and coconut fudge were good. Rice pudding(kheer) was amazing.
This place has really changed for the better since it changed management. Wouldn’t recommend it before but absolutely would recommend it now.
