Edible…. but. I would say the food is not bad… but $3 for a can or coke??? $10 for a bun with a bit of meat on it…. then $6 – $12 for some kind of side god I know food prices are high, and yah your service was good but cripes it’s street food, it shouldn’t cost enough that I could get a full meal at the keg… sorry your mark up is insane will not visit again.
Bad Choice. We were the FringeFest and needed food, so we headed to Market Square to see what offerings there were for food trucks. There really wasn’t too much to choose from, so we settled on Lovey’s BBQ. I ordered the Chipotle Chicken Wrap, and my BF had the Brisket Sandwich and Fries. The Chicken had no Chipotle flavor whatsoever and was quite dry. There were a few veggies in the wrap. BF’s Brisket sandwich had way too much BBQ sauce. The fries which they told us were homemade, did not taste homemade. The texture was very ‘frozen fries’ like. A woman who sat beside us was eating the BBQ Pulled Pork Poutine, and she said she eats at Lovey’s Restaurant often, so knew she would be happy with her choice. She may have been, but we wished we’d chosen one of the other food truck offerings that day. We were both disappointed.
Went to this food truck after the normal lunch rush one day at around 1:15 and ordered their pulled pork Poutine. What I received was cold fries and gravy that did not melt any of the cheese. Oh well, I was hungry… I went and sat on a nearby bench where the owner of Lovey’s was sitting, goofin around on his iPad. I turned to him and commented negatively about the Poutine pretending I had no clue who he was. He looked at me blankly and SAID NOTHING. Yes, nothing. He was wearing a Lovey’s golf shirt for Pete’s sake!!!Never again.
Not Lovin it. My daughter and i decided to try this trucks food at the icelandic festival and i must say, the food was just bad. The brisket sandwich i had was dry and tasteless and the fries were undercooked and covered with what tasted like gravy out of a can. My daughter was not impressed with her poutine and said the gravy just tasted strange. Won’t be wasting my time or money on this one again, however the smoothie we got at SoCal smoothies was awesome.
Could be better. I have heard many great things about Lovey’s through friends and family. Their foodtruck however was a bit disappointing. I had their pulled pork poutine, which was quite good but I think some of the pork was a little undercooked because it was pinker than I would have liked. My boyfriend had the Smoked Chicken Wrap, which was pre-made and the Chipotle sauce came on the side. I would have expected maybe hot chicken and the wrap made fresh. Overall, I liked it but there are other good food trucks down Broadway.
Yummy Pulled Pork Sandwiches!!!. The girls hit Lovey’s food truck today for lunch. I had a pulled pork sandwich, and it was incredibley good. There was lot’s of pork, it was seasoned nicely, and had a great sweet sauce on it. One of the other girls had a chicken wrap, and said it was done perfectly and tasted great. We’ll be back!
Welcome addition to the Broadway Lunch Truck Lineup. We were very pleased to see the Lovey’s Hog Mobile Truck take a spot on Broadway a few weeks ago. They offer a limited menu (compared to the restaurant) geared towards a quick bite while sitting on a bench, enjoying the Winnipeg sunshine. Pulled Pork on a bun, Roasted Chicken Wraps, and other daily specials hit the spot when a hot dog from one of the ‘regular’ vendors just won’t do.I believe I also saw a great-looking poutine covered with pulled pork walking past us last week ….and it looked AWESOME!Prices are all in the $5 range.
