I’ve ordered online multiple times from Skip The Dished and eaten in the restaurant once.Ordering online the quality is a lot better than in restaurant. My go-tos are : Dynamite roll, agedashi tofu, deep fried Cali roll, and salmon sashimi.Dynamite roll is always really good.Agedashi tofu is done differently than other sushi places I’ve been to, it’s deep fried so it’s a lot heavier that the light fried versions at other places.Salmon sashimi is usually pretty good, nice cut portions. Overall not too bad.

I ordered a chicken Katsu roll & red tuna roll off the regular menu, which were small and had very little filling. The chicken Katsu did not taste fresh. It tasted as if it was re-heated or re-deep fried. I was interested in the AYCE but was extremely hesitant after reading all the negative reviews. So I didn’t come in here expecting the best sushi or best service (service is absent btw). At least I gave this restaurant a chance but I wouldn’t return on my own will. Lol

Pull up an go around! This restaurants all you can eat sushi was really really bad. Rice was flavorless and slightly undercooked. I’m not even sure it was sushi rice. The filling made up 25% of best of each humongous rice wrap. I also found it strange that the dynamite rolls were drenched in so I sauce from the sushi chef. I’ve never experienced that and it was in such quantities that there was a puddle of soy sauce on the plate underneath. We have been to a number of all-you-can-eat sushi’s and they all have a little more rice than normal, this place was exceptionally bad. If you like rice this is your place. I’m not sure who runs the place, but I highly doubt they are Japanese or Korean with Sushi this bad. I’ll apologize to the waitress on here for being so frank with my opinion. She’s a nice girl and took my comments professionally. I was rather insulted over what was placed In front of us and it showed.

Bland, lacking in filling, lukewarm miso and under cooked tempura. Dynamite rolls were served drenched in soy sauce. Three year old said the edamame was ‘good’ .Will not go back.

Advertised as $10.50 and was actually $15.95 (weekday lunch, more for evenings/weekends).That said, I wouldn’t have minded paying more if the sushi was any good. It really wasn’t. Most of the rolls were 3/4 rice and super bland. Disappointed.

Given that this place is extremely close to our house and that Monday-Wednesday are 20% off pick up, we eat here a lot!!!! We have our faves & it’s always perfect-the same every time! Amazing feel good AFFORDABLE lunch when u don’t have the time or energy or ingredients to make smthng from scratch. Food snobs don’t bother.

EDIT (I am not allowed to review twice so I added to my original review):So I have been back a couple times since my review and my opinion has definitely taken a turn for the worse. The rolls are continuously 3/4 rice and lacking in the filling. Food that are supposed to come out hot is coming out slightly above room temperature. Also, the flavors are jut not there like they used to be.Not sure if this is new management implementing changes or just a new set of staff that is not putting in the effort but it is really disappointing that one of my favorite sushi spots is now a place I would not go unless I was really wanting a select few dishes.ORIGINAL POST:I’ve been here quite a few times over the years. It is one of my places to go for when you want a cheap(er) all-you-can-eat sushi option that has a full menu. For the most part, the food is middle of the road sushi in this city. I would and will go back again, but it is never a place I would take anyone to for an experience. They have a descent size menu and is a good price when you get there for lunch. A couple of my favourite items to order are the Mushroom Butter Yaki and the Spicy Squid.I like the atmosphere at this location. It is a small, basement spot that is usually quiet & relaxing, no matter how many people are there. It is definitely a nice change of pace from the loud, listen to your phone at high volume crowd that frequents the other sushi restaurants I like to go to.The service here is equal parts inconsistent and slow. Sometimes they are around to check on you every few minutes (in a good way) and then they can disappear for 20 minutes right when you need a new order or refill. Then when the orders go in, it quite often takes some time for the entire order to come back out. But, no matter the speed or frequency, the service always comes with a smile and they are more than happy to answer any questions you may have.
