Highly recommend! Everything we had here was delicious and they were very accommodating and cautious with their GF items. I ordered the pork souvlaki which tasted like it had been marinated over night and not at all fatty. Amazing lemon soup to start, and equally perfect Greek salad! My dad had the chicken souvlaki and raved that it was one of the best he’s had. He also enjoyed his lemon potatoes. This place doesn’t look like much from the outside, but it is very, very worth it!
So I have tried many of the Greek restaurants in Winnipeg, but somehow had never been to Olympia. We were in the area and decided to pop in for dinner. I opted to go with my usual choice of a chicken souvlaki pita with Greek salad and poutine. My boyfriend opted for the traditional gyro. The food was delicious. One of the best souvlaki pitas that I have tried! The tzatziki was so good and the chicken was extremely tender. Love that the Greek salad had tons of feta and tomatoes and the homemade fries were very good! And they use cheese curds in their poutine instead of shredded cheese which is actually hard to find. I will definitely be recommending Olympia diner and can’t wait to return!
Was a little leery about service after reading the reviews but it was truly awesome. Had the calamari and WOW was it great. Had the half Greek and half Cesar salad – both supreme with exceptional taste and correct quantity of dressing Chicken souvlaki was mouth watering. Now – my husband thought the calamari was salty and too thick but still good. His gyro he said was good but he has had better in the city. Price was good
Food is good. Portion sizes are what you wouldExpect. Decor needs upgrading. Service is good. I would recommend a try if you are in the St.James area
I am VERY disappointed..Decided to try this place after reading some good reviews. The gyro was bland, the cheese on the greek salad taste funny, and the burger was thrown together on a stale bun. The serve was OK at best, we waited a while for simple water.. not to mention our drinks. The food also took forever even though it wasn’t that busy. The food is soooo over priced, save your money and go to better and cheaper greek restaurants/ burger joints in the area. I have a feeling the good reviews were bias, because there is no way this is a 5 star place.
Went here Saturday after having many good meals here! I decided to bring the parents this time to enjoy some tasty Greek food! Dad ordered the Olympia burger with French onion soup to start with 1/2 Greek and 1/2 Caesar for his two sides. Mom went with the chicken souvlaki pita with fries and salad. Potato bacon soup of the day which is a tasty one! My husband went with the veal cutlet and fries with salad as his choice with the potato bacon soup. And for moi, I decided to go way outside my regular.. I went with pizza… I’ve never tried theirs and my curiosity had got the best of me.. so I went with the Hawaiian one with pineapple ham cheddar mozzarella pizza. Had to grab a bowl of the lemon rice soup (mm yum!). Forgot this place serves up garlic bread with the soup and they had fresh bread that day too with olive oil balsamic… didn’t need pizza Although the pizza was pretty good that night and the next day too, I’ll stick with the Greek specialties for future visits. Calamari to start which was tasty! Service has always been great whenever we go here. Friendly staff and big big food portions, good quality for the money you spend. —Feb 2017: Came here with my friend a few days ago for lunch. Whenever I visit a Greek restaurant I tend to lean towards chicken Souvlaki Pita just to see how their version is. Wow is all I can say. I was very happy with my order. I took a page out of The Heavy Hitters book and decided to double up on salad – went with 1/2 Caesar and 1/2 Greek. The Caesar was delicious and the Greek salad could’ve used a tad more dressing, but it’s probably best that it didn’t (less is better for the waistline) :). Kalamata olives is what I like to see on a Greek salad as well. To start, I added lemon rice soup and again wow, one of the better if not the best I’ve tried so far from any of the Greek restaurants I’ve visited in the city. It was nice and lemony. A thicker broth and very good overall. Yum. Our server was very nice and attentive. The Souvlaki Pita was tasty. Chicken nice and tender with flavour. I had ordered take out a few years back and I wasn’t overly impressed at that time, but glad we gave this another chance because it was pretty fantastic I will most definitely be coming back here again and again … ! Check this place out! Ooh and big portions! Great value for the money spent.
We found the restaurant park very limited before we even got in the door, the window we were sat beside was in dire need of restoration as with the whole restaurant. We were served promptly however the food took 1 hr 13 minutes for 2 people and the place barely over half full. We ordered the ultimate burger and a ceaser salad between both of us. The burger was a favourless ball of grease and the salad was soggy and subpar for a restaurant. And to make it worse the food was expensive. Never going again. Some people may enjoy this level of service and give good reviews but I think it’s terrible, save your money and go somewhere else
