Mmmm BBQ skewers. I had the BBQ lunch today with lumpia on the side… it was SOOO good! Add a little hot sauce and vinegar to the meat and rice, mmmmmm!!!! One of the best food trucks in the city!! They give you lots for $8 I think it’s definitely worth it. Definitely give it a try if you are in the Broadway area at lunch! It can get really busy so go early~!!
Love!. I have been waiting a long time to get to this truck… and finally made it! Now I watch their twitter like a hawk waiting for them to be in my workplace vicinity. I am a huge fan of Filipino food – and I was surprised when the Lumpia is some of the BEST I have tasted (and I have Filipino family!). The pancit was good, pretty salty and I look forward to trying the Garlic Rice and Tocilog next time I catch the truck at lunch!
Love Pork Tocino!!. So excited to have a truck like this in Winnipeg! I tried the pork tocino, and honestly it lasted me two meals. Loved the garlicy rice– delicious flavours. And the pork melts in your mouth.Support the people who are making downtown vibrant and delicious!! Can’t wait for next season, so please open a restaurant.
Great Alternative to Usual Street Fare. I have tried this truck three times now and have enjoyed it each and every time. The brightly coloured truck serves Filipino food. I had heard prior comments that the portions were very small. I think they may have heard these comments too, because I couldn’t complain about the portions I had received.The staff are friendly and answered any questions that I have. It takes a few minutes to get your order, but it is well worth the brief wait. I have had the sweet, cured pork with garlic rice. The citrus and soy marinated beef strips with rice, the bbq pork skewers with rice and the Turon which is a dessert item. The Turon is like a spring roll shell filled with bananas and jackfruit. I had never tried something like this before and enjoyed it immensely. It wasn’t overly sweet and delivers a satisfying crunch.The sweet cured pork is my favourite of the meats that I have tried. They ordinarily serve it with an egg. I opted for no egg and they deducted a dollar off the usual $7 price. It tasted freshly prepared and the meat was sweet and juicy. The rice is a good complement. It was nice and fluffy, no sticking and not dry.The beef had a more familiar taste to it. It was well marinated which made it tender and juicy. The soy was a dominant flavour and I must say that the dish worked for me.The bbq skewers are very tasty and a great price…3 for $4 which then includes rice. Less then the three skewers would not be much of a meal though. I would recommend getting one of the other dishes and adding a skewer of the bbbq pork as a complement to it.There are other options available, including vegetarian. Prices are reasonable, given the portions and I will not hesitate to come back.
Pimp My Lunch. This truck is worth following. I can’t believe anyone would say the portions are small for what you pay. The portions are more than fair in size and not only that, it’s from-scratch delicious food!!!!! Arrive ASAP as things sell out!! I would have loved to have tried the Pancit but it was gone for the day. Tried the beef and my hubby’s pork and both were AMAZING!!!! The garlic rice that comes on the side is unassumingly delicious. Also tried the fried bananas which could benefit from a sauce or something, but they were yummy. Staff are super friendly and helpful. Keep on Pimpin’ On.
