Semi Formal Luncheon. It’s been a while since I’ve been to the Rib Room inside the Charter House hotel in Downtown Winnipeg. A lot has changed since the last time I’ve been here. There were actually other customers in the restaurant this time! Food was really quite nice! I had the prime rib sandwich which was a special, but I was also told by the manager that it will be added to the regular menu because of its popularity! It has a homemade wasabi horseradish dressing on top of fresh prime rib on a baguette of sort. Really hit the mark with me!Thanks again!Restaurant was clean, bright and inviting.Server was on the ball, organized and efficient! Very formal service for a semi formal venue! I enjoyed it! Thanks again to The Rib Room.
So many things went wrong…. Food orders were mixed up, medium rare prime rib was well done, initial drink order was never followed up, we would have had a couple drinks to fill the long wait time for the meal, then, we even had to get up and get our own water from the server’s station, bills were not prepared as requested and had errors, (we had to wait for the bill). Anytime the waiter would leave, he wouldn’t come back. Although it was a busy evening and a nice looking place, the kitchen and service seemed streched beyond their capabilities. It took a LONG time for food to come and when it did, some was cold, one gal at our table got her food as others were finishing, Food was only average. A server should bring meals from behind and on the right, this server would reach acorss peoples faces, acoss the table instead of walking around. We were in disbelief. When we asked to speak to a manager, we were told the manager left for the day, even though the restaurant was still full and busy. I know getting everything perfect is hard in a restaurant, especially when it is busy, but this experience, so much went wrong!
Best prime rib and excellent service. Very old Winnipeg institution, gone through some changes over the years but appears to be getting back into the swing of things! Food was hot, appealing, potions were good, garnish was a little dated but overall 9/10Service was spectacular with a warm welcome by the manager who seated us, the assistant server that gave us water and a candle was nice and the server Soman was just fantastic. We’ll be back again!
Stayed a week, enjoyed the food 5 out of 5 times! Service was stellar!. Cozy, relaxed-formal, candle light, jazz music, great food! Enjoyed the following meals: Prime rib with a Yorkshire pudding! So good!!Ribs (I think they were pork ) Huge rack, priced for $25ish…Delicious Lamb, nice portion and presentation, typical high priced, but very good! Mint jelly and all!Seafood Pasta (Don’t recall the name) filling, meatySteak, perfect medium, wild rice, vegetables were awesome (beets, carrot, cauliflower, tomato with cheese) WOW. Thanks Rib Room Restaurant.
Waiting for 20 minutes. Been waiting at the front for 20 minutes and no one has come to seat me. Staying at the hotel so I’d thought I’d try a meal here since I’ve never have before when I’m in town. Trying to get anyone’s attention here is not working. Go to 529 Wellington instead as I had a amazing Rib steak with marrow sauce there last night and the service was perfect. Will remember that being greeted at the front of this place is a huge waste of time. Thanks for the terrible service.

The Rib Room is a quiet, fine dining, experience. I love their prime rib dinners. Dining is about food, and for my family it’s also a chance to socialise, which is easy in the Rib Room.The food was lovely, the space comfortable, the staff attentive. Other features of the Rib Room include:Large parking lots.A central location A well appointed and cared for space.We’ll be back.
