AWESOME when you order the right stuff!!. This is the japanese/chinese cuisine that is offered in the kenaston area. You simply can’t not miss it by its noticeable sign if you happen to pass by. You’ll notice the bubble tea and sushi sign but Its buffet sign may be a bit misleading tho, cause I never seen a buffet myself whenever we come in as regulars.They have one of the BEST SMOOTHIES I’ve ever tasted!! I’m sure most of them are real fruit. They have some good selection. My favorite is the LYCHEE and MANGO/PEACH mix. They will allow you to mix or customize. The mango/peach is like one of the best combinations we ever invented simply because my friend was allergic to BANANA!! lolI dare you all to try it and prove me wrong.. another friend of mine really loved the Mango/banana mix.In terms of food, if you’re a big into sushi.. this wouldn’t be the best place to try out. It is not bad but not as great compared to places that specialized in sushi rolls.I never really had much problems with their other foods. One of my favorites is their sliced eggplants cooked in their special sauce CHINESE style!! You can get it with potatoes but I suggest trying the eggplants itself first, cause I find the potatoes overpowers it imo. Potatoes is nicely cooked tho. If you like potatoes go for it!!I also tried their fish cooked in sweet & sour sauce with pineapples forgot the real name but its one of their signature dish. It is really tasty!! Maybe I’ll post the pic soon lolThen there’s few dishes with battered shrimp in chinese or japanese style. I’m sure those are good, don’t think you’ll be disappointed. The staff kind of knows me well lol and they speak little english which can sometimes cause some misunderstanding. I keep coming back to this place cause I love their smoothies and some of their foods. 🙂

Very very bad sushi. We ordered take out. I’m about to throw most of it in the garbage.
Terrible!!. Oh wow!! It was bad..so bad…. My husband is chinese and pretty much thinks any chinese food is better than no chinese food. We will not return. The food has no taste, all very very bland. We ordered 4 dishes and 1 sushi roll, the waiter told us that was too much food for two people and suggested we drop an item or two. We said no because we wanted variety and didnt mind if we had to bring it home. We packed up the food but dumped it in the garbage a short while after. I beg you! Please dont waste your money. Its $70 I will never see again. Also, we wanted the buffet. They told us they didnt have a buffet (even though the name on the sign says ”buffet”) two other couples came in and left right away once they found out there was no buffet.
Best Traditional Chinese. Sakura is a Chinese/Japanese restaurant that is mainly known for their buffet. I have never tried the buffet before, I stick to the a la carte, which has some great hidden treasures you will not find elsewhere. I have dined at this restaurant several times before, usually ordering the same items, and it has been great every time. Maybe not the quickest service, but the food is worth the wait.Sakura offers a few different culinary choices; Traditional Chinese, Canadian Chinese, Sushi, and Buffet. I heard the buffet is bad and will not try it and I have never sampled the sushi before, so that leaves the glorious Chinese menu, in particular the traditional one. There was a time where the Chinese menu was only in Chinese and not English. Luckily, a close friend of mine speaks Mandarin and introduced me to this place and it’s wonderful food. Thankfully, the traditional Chinese menu has now been translated into English. There are 2 star dishes off the Chinese menu which I always order whenever I am here. One is a spinach and noodle dish. Large clear noodles are coated in a thin salty soy based sauce with lots of spinach mixed in and topped with spicy chilis and small shreds of tender pork. The sauce tastes amazing and goes great with the noodles, spinch, and meat.The next dish is one of my favorites in the entire city. The ribs. These are not your typical spareribs or bbq’d ribs. These are large meaty pork ribs cooked to perfection. They are coated in crushed peanuts, which may sound odd but the saltiness and texture of the peanuts goes great with the super tender meat. Then they serve these tasty ribs on top of homemade potato chips which although deepfried are not overly crunchy. The unusual combination of ribs, peanuts, potatoes goes great. I have also tried the lamb with cumin which is tender and tasty. While I enjoy the flavors of the shrimp beware that if you order the shrimp off the traditional Chinese menu it is prepared shell/head on.And if you want a delicious drink to quench your thirst try the mango smoothie. I am not sure if it is on the menu but I’ve had it a few times and they use fresh mango. It is one of the best smoothies I’ve ever had. I highly recommend the a la carte dishes (specifically the Chinese menu) at Sakura.
