I always wanted to try this place and finally got the chance today.I ordered take out of the beef and chicken empanadas. The owner asked me how I would like my empanadas- baked or fried?either or I said.So he fried the beef and baked the chicken empanadas. Both were very good- pillowy and lots of meat on it. It came also with a coleslaw as side. I totally recommend this place.

Fabulous food! The Chicken Ranchero sandwich was delightful – I liked it even more than I expected to! The chicken was crispy and hot, the greens were fresh, the basil was plentiful, and the bread soft, yet up to the task. Wonderful sandwich – highly recommend.

I was so sad when they closed their St. Mary’s location as I loved their empanada, chicken dishes, pastas and sandwiches. They re-opened last year at the Forks in the newly updated food court where there’s a wine and beer step up bar. Simon’s is one of the few new kiosks there, though their menu has shrunk a bit. You can’t get the pastas (which I was sad about) or the chicken dishes but you can definitely still get the empanadas (smaller selection) and the sandwiches that they are so famous for sandwich de milanesa.I love their spicy beef empanada $3.70 each which you can get baked or fried. They’re great for a light meal. Great flavours and a hint of heat. It’s just as delicious as I remember!

We had the Locro (a stew) and the Sandwich de Milanesa (with egg and cheese). The stew was amazing, with tender chunks of beef and Lima beans. Simon makes the stew for winter and offered us samples, which sold us. If you pair this with a beer flight from The Common, you have an hour well spent.

Ordered some empanadas while at the common having drinks and dinner from around the forks. Little bit of a wait but was really good. Will be trying more from them in the future.

Tried Simon’s on a whim as I was craving empenadas and happened to be at The Forks. Ordered a spicy beef empenada, spinach and ricotta empenada and a small order of their fries provenzal. It came to about $14, so the prices aren’t low but nothing extravagant.Empenadas were an ok size, not big but not small. Personally I didn’t find the spicy beef very hot. It had a lot of flavour from the actual spices but if we’re talking Scoville scale I would consider it low. I was alternating between the beef and the cheese and the two really complemented each other; spiced meat and creamy ricotta is a win. I opted for them fried and the pastry was crisp and actually not greasy at all. I would be interested to see how the baked version compares.I paid the extra 50 cents for the chimichurri with no regret. It really kicked up the flavour. My favourite had to be the fries though. Now if you don’t like garlic, do not get these fries. They are covered in a garlic/herb/oil mix. I, however, revelled in it. It was delicious. Incredibly garlicky but without reaching the point of bitterness. They were hot, crisp and savoury. I even added some of the topping to a few bites of empenada and along with the chimichurri made the perfect bite.I will definitely be eating here again.

To make this entry short and sweet, the prices are adequate and the flavours are excellent! The value is good, service is fast, and the food is great. A very filling, flavourful, and texturally on point sandwich comes with fries for $9 and it was a delight through each bite. I would highly recommend the place and look forward to trying it again.
