Sushi ya was not a planned visit, there happened to be parking in front and decided to try. Very. Ice atmosphere and we tried some TNT rolls, tuna bakugan, and something else I don’t recall. The TNT rolls were very tasty, and sized jets right considering the tempura shrimp on top for an easy mouthful (this is relative of course…). The bakugan was delicious and the other rolls were a basic light refreshing roll with avocado, cucumber and seemingly lots of mayo. Either way it was juicy! They forgot the ginger and wasabi for me, but I didn’t think this was a big issue as they realized this after. Overall, very pleasant and roughly what I expected price wise. Good eats!
Not impressed. We took Sushi Ya off our list of ‘take out’ restaurants. As an office business, we order large sushi orders at the end of the night. Do not trust the hours posted on their menu or even what they say when you call and ask what the hours are. Today (again) we called to make an order but were told (by the owner) they closed early because ‘corydon was crazy’ and ‘we were busy’ :(. Not a restaurant I can count on.
I enjoy going for a walk down corydon and coming to sushi ya for my fix of sushi! Always tastes so fresh and wonderful! I do wish the inside of the restaurant would get a little upgrade, other than that I love love love this place!
Came here on a Thursday evening with the wife. Despite being a weekday evening, we were shocked at how busy it was! The restaurant was nearly packed to capacity and despite what seemed like an endless number of takeout orders through Justeat, the staff were both prompt and attentive throughout our meal. The sushi here is excellent. They serve many rolls inspired by some loyal customers and the chef dedicates the name of the rolls to them. I would consider these signature rolls that are unique to Sushi Ya! So if you’re looking for something different you’ve come to right place. They also serve their Agadashi tofu in Tempura form with a side of unagi sauce. This is the only sushi restaurant that I know of that serves it like this! Lastly, their Al Bop is also very unique. It’s a different take on Korean rice served in a hot stone bowl, using Japanese ingredients and seasonings.Aside from their many unique offerings, they don’t skimp on the details. They serve you free Edamame when you are first seated. Their miso soup has minced fresh tofu in it. Also their Tempura sauce has something like a ginger/shallot seasoning added to it.The restaurant is a bit dark at night and can get noisy when packed, but of all the sushi restaurants on Corydon, this place definitely stands out.
Fresh sushi, good portions (if a little pricey), gorgeous presentation, yummy! Would highly recommend. I’ll be ordering from here much more in the future!
Good ol’ sushi! I prefer to traditional style rolls here and not the western style, saucy rolls as I prefer that elsewhere. Sat down and was given a complimentary plate of edamame beans. Food and price are great – the lunch combos come with different style rolls and nigiri PLUS a Cali roll, salad, miso soup and gyoza and mine worked out to be $13.95 since I chose a different roll to sub the Cali roll. The sushi chef also gave us a few complimentary side dishes which was very nice. However, this restaurant lacks service. We were 1 of 3 tables there. Took awhile to order from the server and again to grab our bill. If it wasn’t for that, Sushi Ya would’ve gotten a better rating.
The first time to visit Sushi Ya, since new owner took over the restaurant 2month ago. As soon as I entered the restaurant, a waitress greeted me with big smile. I ordered few dishes for take out. while i was waiting at the table, they served green tea. serving time was pretty fast. There are big portion of stuffing and thin rayer of rice each roll which is good. Taste was excellent. Highly and strongly recommend to anyone who likes sushi.
