We’ve been going to The Nook for 10 plus years. It’s always been great, fast breakfast for a great affordable price. Today we went for breakfast at 9am. My husband and I both ordered the breakfast special for $7.95 eggs, meat, hashbrowns and toast. I remember having a $5 bill and saying lets hit up The Nook cause I can get breakfast with this one bill I’ve got! Not anymore. The breakfast was lukewarm, which is weird because you can watch them cook your food! And the hashbrowns were terrible! Hard, burnt, dry and difficult to chew! My son ate blueberry pancakes. And I had a coffee with my meal. The total came to $27.97, not worth it. For that price at a corner store breakfast joint that’s known for great, affordable and fast breakfast, it’s none of those things anymore. We won’t be back.
We live in Wolseley and go to the Nook for Breakfasts when we want a quick but tasty big old fashioned breakfast. I’ve had the Bacon and Eggs with hash browns, bacon and toast, and also the steak and eggs. Greg has had the classic breakfast as well as an omelet and the eggs benny. Burgers and fries are decent as well. This is your classic greasy spoon diner (not to say it’s unclean. It’s not.) Their food is straight forward without gimmicks and in large portions with a reasonable price tag. The staff and owners are always pleasant and friendly, and they accommodate my allergies with kindness. (plus you can have a conversation at a reasonable level without being overwhelmed like a few other breakfast places.)
A good diner in a great location. Classic diner food, some tasty omelettes and breakfast options plus standard diner lunches… Nothing incredible, but great for a quick, tasty and easy brunch in the neighbourhood.
Great breakfast and lunch place! The food is always delicious and the prices are some of the best in Winnipeg. If you get there before 11AM, the breakfast special is discounted! You won’t walk away hungry.
I always try something different in hopes that I’ll like it, but I don’t. I found the hollandaise sauce tasteless, but the Rueben sandwich was great! Consistently underwhelmed and although I know it’s casual I kind of expect it to be more flavourful. My boyfriend really likes it here so I’ll probably be back at some point.
Not a bad diner. Very busy at lunch but we were able to snag a table quickly. Perogies were fantastic. They tasted deep fried. Yummy! :)Service was great and friendly. We didn’t feel rushed either which is nice. I’ve heard the breakfast is very good, and I’d like to come back to try the eggs benny or blueberry pancakes.The worst part is parking, so if you can get here via alternative method (bike/walk/bus) you won’t have to deal with that headache.
Tried this place for the first time for late lunchand ordered the homemade burger with fries on the side and it was alright. Nothing to raved about. The place has a small space, in my opinion, I had a difficult time getting a seat during busier time, so with the parking. Won’t be back.
