This is a hard one to give a final rating to. The ambience is a 5. The room is gorgeous; it has beautiful old elegance. They don’t /can’t make rooms like this anymore. The piano music while enjoying your meal – awesome, a 5. The quality/taste of the burger I ordered was probably one of the best burgers I’ve ever had, even though it was a little on the small side – a 5. The coffee – some of the best I’ve ever drank – a 5.Now the bad – Paying $30.00 (with the tip) for a burger, fries, and coffee is a little excessive in my opinion. Also the size of the burger was on the small side so I still felt hungry after eating. After paying $30 for a meal you should be stuffed. At least you would think so. I guess you do have to pay for the ambience of the room, piano, and above normal eating experience somehow. If I was charged $30 at an establishment that wasn’t as beautiful as this place is I’d give them a 2. I guess the Palm Room has to be left as a special place that you only go to once in awhile, can’t afford to pay those prices all the time. So given that I still can’t give them a 5, a 4 will have to do.

The Palm has been a favourite of mine for years and for good reason. I started going there as a teenager with my friends to enjoy evenings listening to jazz, drinking martini’s and enjoying dessert; clouds of cigarette smoke from the crowd wafting up to the beautiful dome ceiling. Not a thing has changed except for the smoke. This is the ideal place to go on the weekend following the symphony, the ballet, the opera or a show at MTC to discuss the performance over an old fashioned made properly. Menu items have always been pleasing and priced fairly for what is received.Recommended.

This is a fabulous spot for a nice evening out…there is live music on the weekends and I just find this place so elegant and relaxing. The service is great and the atmosphere is awesome. Quite often we come for cocktails and appetizers but the meals here are very good as well. Always love coming to the Palm Lounge!

Food, drink and friends were great. The service was abysmal. Can’t even describe how bad it was. Looked like other servers were doing better but our server (Paul) was terrible. That needs to be fixed.

The room is gorgeous and the jerk pork special with collard greens, eggplant, and coconut rice was really good. However, the drinks were only okay, the service was not particularly attentive and kind of rude, and I could do without the live entertainment.

Simply Amazing. I travel lots and end up in restaurants more than I’d like to, however every now and then, a place stands out and deserves to be recognized. The Palm Room at the Fort Garry Hotel certainly is such a spot. The room itself is beautiful with a decor fitting of this hotel’s historic past. Its comfortable, relaxed atmosphere allows for easy interaction around the table whether there’s just two of you, or a much larger group. As in most hotel lounges, there were many singles relaxing over a drink and preparing for their next day or just enjoying a book and the atmosphere. The two things that stood out the most for me though was the food and the entertainment. The live entertainment was fantastic and the food I had provided a taste sensation that had my taste buds begging for more. And so i sampled a few other dishes and was equally impressed with each of them. The menu is varied and includes comfort food like perogies or pot roast right up to great steaks. I will definitely be spending more time in this lounge whenever I can

Food was good, wallet emptied out. Food was good, but not great for the price…display was beautiful…I don’t know, I expected 5 star food, only got 4 in my opinion.
