Food and service were excellent. The pork dumplings were the best I ever had. They were deep fried and the perfect crispness. The beef and mixed vegetables were also delicious. This could be my newest favourite restaurant!!
April 2016:Ordered take out from Yan Yan last night and ordered some of the dishes we have already tried and love as well as some a new dishes. – hot honey garlic breaded veal (the breading was falling off the meat and not as good as last visit) – hot fried vermicelli with shrimp and pork (a new dish tried, and not impressed! The shrimp in the dish was not fresh at all. I took one bite, nearly gagged and spit it out instantly. It was very fishy tasting and agh I can’t even describe the taste that came with the fishy taste…. There goes that dish) – yan yan chicken (this was the highlight out of all the dishes, yet I can’t say it was that great or the competition was there…) – beef with mixed vegetables (no flavor, bland, and the 1/4 cup of beef in the dish and pieces of cauliflower with blackened stems/florets wasn’t appealing either) – chicken fried rice was good What the heck happened tonight!? Not impressed at all and disappointed with the quality this visit. I’m not sure if we’ll be rushing back anytime soon if at all. I get there may be off days but when I’m spitting food out, there’s something wrong. Previously rated 4… Feb 2016: Ordered from Yan Yan Restaurant this evening and was impressed yet again with their food and the service. Picked up a variety of dishes and we were all happy with the food (taste, portion sizes). We ordered the Hot Honey garlic breaded veal, yan yan chicken (honey lemon- a little spicy for some but I found it to be perfect heat), yan yan lemon chicken (lemon sauce was served on the side which we didn’t mind), Deluxe lo mein, special ginger beef, and the deluxe fried rice. A variety of dishes for us to try under $71 tax included and we received a free order of sweet and sour pork for spending over $60. I like free 🙂 We had also ordered on New Years and was happy with everything so figured we would order from here again. I’m glad we did. It’s been a while since I’ve visited other Chinese restaurants in St. James (ie: good earth, the great world, marigold so I can’t say Yan Yan is the best Chinese food in the area today, but I’d recommend giving it a try. Friendly service and good value for your money.
Best sweet and sour chicken balls in the city! You take a bite into it, and you can see the huge chunk of chicken in it. You mean I’m not eating just batter?! The hot and sour beef is to die for. I can’t stop eating it. Not going anywhere else for Chinese food in the west end. Not to mention that their delivery service is super quick!
Great service but food was just OK. Great delivery service but food was just OK
GARBAGE GREASE SOAKED FOOD. This was easily the worst Chinese food I and my friends have ever eaten. if your hungry starve or buy a hotdog
Yan Yan = YUM YUM. What can I say……….whether you dine in or take-out, this place delivers. Fresh, tasty, moderately priced, and generous proportions. Plus…….the service is simply the best. If you dine in……the atmosphere is friendly and clean. And the staff treat you like gold. If you pick-up, the staff greets you like you’re special and welcome. They really go the extra mile to earn your business and make you happy. Either way……your business is respected. I’ve very seldom had any complaints with the food. At any restaurant, that can happen. And people do have off-days…..who doesn’t? And there are a lot of places in this city that I’ve walked out of or have never gone back to. But there are only 2 Chinese restaurants in Winnipeg that are consistently good, and that I trust for quality, cleanliness, and friendly service. The New China Kitchen on St. Annes Road in St. Vital. And Yan Yan. Do yourself a favor…….check them both out.
Primo Chinese Food. Ordered from Yan Yan’s for the first time tonight. I would give them a 4.5/5 rating. 1) I was impressed at the fact they do free delivery. (On orders more than 25$ I think)on top of free service, they were extremely fast! 2) For just under $40 we got a LOT of food. We had 5 different dishes. 3) The food was delish! My comment on the spring rolls was that I haven’t had a spring roll this good in a long time. 4) My only negative for yan yan’s is that the Cantonese Beef Chow Mein was very oliy/greasy Overall very impressed, and would order food from there again!
