I’m on vacation from California and was suspicious of going to a Mexican restaurant in Newfoundland, but I was happy with the food I ordered. The guacamole was good and freshly made. The tortilla chips are made in house. The house salsa is pretty good, but the smoked pepper salsa is better. My main dish was chicken fajitas, which was well seasoned and had salsa on the side.Overall it’s decent compared to the Mexican food available back home.Update: I had dinner here a second night, this time I had cod fish tacos. They were prepared exactly as I would expect back home. The fish was lightly breaded and garnished with cabbage(not regular lettuce), red onion, cilantro and tomato.
Let’s be clear, this is not good Mexican, TexMex, whatever you want to call it. But it’s probably the best we got in NL which is why I eat here once or twice a year. Take out orders can be very slow. Service can be spotty however last time I was there a few nights ago it was excellent. This place is known for their Fish Tacos, they’re pretty good. Everything else I’ve tried is fine, but nothing to write home about. Portions are generous.
