Decor is charming and the lighting is nice. I had the grilled scallops with fries. The scallops were of good quality, but rather expensive and were not seasoned in any way. Service was casual and friendly.
With a name like the Bagel Cafe, I wouldn’t have even thought to stop here for supper, but the outside board listed a number of lobster meals and hit us at just the right time in our search, so in we went. The place is tight quarters, cozy, kitschy and quaint. Somehow it works. We had no problem with the waitstaff other than them pouring the wine from the bottle we ordered and bringing full glasses along with the remainder of the bottle. Perhaps that was so they could fit the pourer at the bar. In any case it seemed strange. This is good honest food, not gourmet food. The seafood ‘chowder’ had a clear broth with a fair amount of ingredients. It tasted ok but it’s not chowder. My lobster tails and baked potato hit the spot at $18. My colleague got a massive pile of mussels along with his breaded fish. It all went down well. We finished off with some deserts that were also tasty. At $30, the bottle of white wine was priced well.
