Sadly disappointed. Went to this restaurant on recommendation a couple of weeks ago. Was sadly disappointed. My husband and I both got the lamb. We had 4 small medallions that were more fat than meat. The vegetables were tasteless and not seasoned at all. These were $40.00 plates. We were still hungry when we left. Needless to say, we will not be back.21 Nov, 2013Sadly disappointed. Went to this restaurant on recommendation. Was sadly disappointed. My husband and I both got the lamb. Fresh fish in St Johns?. When in St Johns what else do you eat but fresh fish! We went to the Blue on Water on a recommend from the Delta. I had the mussels, tasted like they came from Costco although the broth was good. I had the Fresh Pan fried cod over greens, fish was on the mushy side (must have been frozen) very high price for this plate $ 29.95 . My wife had the lobster bisque she liked it, although her second glass of wine was corky, they changed it! I drank the local beer, first two were warm then I got a cold one. Not likely to return for a second try!

Frustration. Went out with family to this restaurant with high hopes given menu and previous experience at breakfast. Sadly was disappointed. First they did not have table ready and left us to stand around in an already crowded bar (with poorly used space). Then after seating us late it seems that while their menu was great they forgot to have food in stock to make it. They were out of halibut, salmon and lobster — although the waitress did not know about the latter when she took our order (she came back to offer my wife lobster bisque without the lobster). Lamb loin my wife ordered was delicious and vegetables well done. Beet and goat cheese salad I ordered did not really come together (two large glops of goat cheese with a few wedges of beet doth not a salad make although the honey mixture in the goat cheese was nice). The gnocchi another guest ordered came in an unappetizing pile (plating people, plating). My scallop and pork belly was a mixed bag — the pork belly was nicely done — the scallop sadly overdone. My daughter did say calamari was best she had ever had — not overcooked. Perhaps earlier in the evening they were on their game and our later dining experience caught them in a state of disarray — but really 9 pm is not that late. At a lower price level perhaps I would have felt differently about this place but at fine dining prices they failed to deliver. Too bad really. I would give them another try as there were flashes of glory but it would be for two people to control the pocketbook impact on a try-out basis.

Clean, simplistic decor. Nice menu with daily specials. I enjoyed my meal and it was cooked well. My only complaint was there were only two waitstaff for the busy lunch rush. I observed a table leave as they did not receive any attention or service. Too bad really as the food is good. This may have been an off day and the waitstaff did their best to attempt to manage the lunch rush. The mussels were delicious but needed bread in order to soak up the lovely broth. This restaurant is busy both lunch and dinner. Which I believe is a true testament to consistently good meals. I do recommend having a meal at Blue on Water.

Had a great brunch here. Agree with another reviewer to try the scallop crepes with ceasar salad. Delicious.
