Tried to eat here but it is closed for renos right now. Aug 4/15. Looks like it would be a great place to eat will try to check it out next time.
Not accommodating. I have difficulty with the fact that this place does not have reservations, especially when it is so busy, especially on the weekends. Also you cannot pre-order if you have sensitivities, or if you are following a particular diet. Other than that, the food is great and the service is ok.
Great view, food, price, service!. Really enjoy this place. The homemade bread is phenomenal and the service is great. Excellent value for delicious food. The only downside is that they don’t open until 8! (Hard to go before work…)
Toutons! Do it!
Met at door by a very unpleasant female. Had us wait twenty mins when there was a table available so that we couldn’t order breakfast. Served by same unpleasant female who was rude and arrogant. She walked away while we were ordering coffee. Did not try to accommodate or even apologize for the wait since we went for breakfast. Adamant that we could not get breakfast. Told us to try Zachery’s next door. We asked if she was the owner and she said yes but not so sure. I told her this was my first and my last and that she should smile more. We then left and told the server at the cash that she had just lost four customers. I really hope that people from away know that she is the exception and not what Newfoundlanders are really like. Two thumbs down.
Breakfast is awesome!!! Great price for what you get! Homemade toast was yummy! Hashbrowns were nice! Service was fast and friendly:). Inside is plain and a little dated but it added to the charm. Loved it.
Ordinary. Tired decor. The last time I ate here was 7 years ago and the place hasn’t changed a bit. Lacks the homemade appeal. If you like packets of kraft dressing on the table to go with your garden salad then this is the place for you. Myself, I expect more from a cafe than mediocre food. I sat there wishing I had chosen a different spot. Breakfast is okay but I would not recommend lunch. There are better food choices downtown St. John’s than this one.
