I was polite and friendly when I asked for a simple substitution an a meal when I was the only customer in this restaurant. I was told their system wouldnt allow substitutions so Id have to order my breakfast a la carte, a more expensive option. I was polite and friendly when I pointed out the price differential since the substitution Id asked for cost LESS than the standard fare. I became less polite and friendly when I got a long song and dance about portion sizes and policies and the repetition that the system wouldnt allow them. I became less happy still when the owner came out and objected to my quibbling over price. Ive used and recommended this restaurant for years and the staff have always been friendly, helpful and cooperative. That relationship ended today, Im sorry to say, over a matter of policy.

A local taxi driver told us about this place, happy he did. A small cozy diner that offered great comfort food. A server was a breath of fresh air and very pleasant. A nice view of the harbour to boot.

Had missed this place in reviewing eating places in our visit to the ‘rock.’ Our breakfast was a simple one although hot and tasty, that we could have got most places on the island. The decor was simple diner like. So why was it special to us? Our entire meal was spent overlooking the boats come and go through the picturesque Narrows Channel and that is a view we shall never forget. Sometimes it’s important when judging decor to look outside the box.
