My experience at this restaurant has always been very good – high quality Indian food and high quality service if you don’t mind the price.
Our waiter wasn’t the friendliest but the food made up for it! It was worth the price. My wife and I both got curry dishes. The meat was tender and the flavors were complex. Even the naan bread was great to eat on its own. For a medium heat, it wasn’t THAT hot. The dishes were big and we ate until we put ourselves in a food coma–because it was that good! From the past reviews, they must’ve stepped up their game because there was no mediocre or bland food here. With my wife being half Indian, she said it’s one of the best Indian restaurants she been! That has to say something, huh?
The place and food is great except for people who runs the place. My girlfriend found a hair in her food but she did not want to make a big deal about it. But I insisted her to let the waitress know for future reference. When she spoke to the waitress about the incident she replied with ignorance that THE HAIR BELONGED TO MY GIRLFRIEND other than apologizing for poor service. Its not that we demanded a new plate of food or compensation discount but was look for some quality service. Never going back to this place again.
October 3, 2017-Several years later and the review remains unchanged. Excellent food at a somewhat higher price than I’m used to, but portions are plentiful and the ingredients are fresh. We had a skewer plate that provided a heap of meat and grilled vegetables. Some lamb in almond cream sauce (starts with N) was nothing either of us had heard of, but oh what a delight! A mild but savoury/sweet blend. It will be a go-to dish for next time. Original review.Good Food. No, this is not Indian like you get in Vancouver, New York, Toronto or wherever you might come from. Spice content is somewhat toned down in general. Get over it. The food is fresh, well-made and tasty. If you want it spicy, specify upon order. The prices are high. Probably too high, even for St. John’s which is generally expensive for restaurant food. Outsiders, such as myself will be shocked by the $22 to $25 main plates. I suggest dinner for two which provides a lot of food and enough flexibility to get what you want along with a slightly more reasonable price. The dcor and service were reasonable.
Awesome. Not much bad to say. Awesome butter chicken and veg korma. Pakoras are amazing as is the naan bread. I go to the buffet regularly, and for a treat will order the dinner for two for take out. Always sub the chicken dish for butter chicken. Nice big servings that taste even better the next day!
