Great friendly service and some really amazing dishes make this one of favorite places to eat in St. John’s. Even though I haven’t been to many places yet, I know this will be the go to eatery for me and my wife.
I love this place more every time I go!!! This time my hubby and I were out for a walk and wanted something informal. We went to the bar downstairs and right from the second we walked in the door the service was amazing. This place really does offer and experience rather than just food. We had recommendations for some delicious wine which pleased both of our taste buds as well as the duck confit nachos which were out of this world. We decided to order the fish tacos as well and washed it down with a beautiful Riesling. There is absolutely nothing bad to be said about this place. We are in the process of moving from Victoria, BC and Magnum & Steins will definitely be a regular place for us.
Entirely reasonable but rather uninspired for the cost. As is typical fare for this time of the year, the cod and tuber dish was good but not blow your mind good, though nothing to scoff at. Staff were helpful and pleasant and the ambiance was that of most swanky fooderies.
Best salmon. Lemon & pistachio crusted salmon was the star of the show! My husband had the duck breast which was also perfect. For our apps, we shared the scallop and pepper bruschetta, both went great together. We also shared the apple duck salad and the vinaigrette was sweet, herbaceous and mouthwatering. The apple complimented the duck beautifully. We were having a ball there, our server was whitty and entertaining, and very attentive. Forgot his name, however. otherwise I’d recomend you see him. We splurged on a bottle of Gallo Reserve Cabernet, which is something we never do. We were just very pleased to have such good food and it called for a good wine. If I had to find any fault it was the entrance – because there were a few smokers from the lounge standing around the door on Saturday night which definitely detracted from the initial impression but they were soon forgotten. When you have zero regrets on spending over $100 per person on wine and dinner and cannot wait to return, you know the restaurant is a hit! It is about time St. John’s had some establishments of this caliber, it is sorely needed and soooo appreciated! Exceptional!
The steak is amazing; The blue cheese gives it a fantastic taste, and it’s cooked perfectly.
Had the gnocchi with braised elk. amazing! Highly recommend!
Love the food but the service isn’t great. With Raymond’s in town, they have to up their game.
