Grates Cove Studios owner/operators Artist Terrence Howell and Courtney Howell are Newfoundland and South Louisiana natives who met in, traveled around and ate their way through South Korea. In 2009, they settled their family in the National Historic Site of Grates Cove, the birthplace of Terrences father, grandmother and many ancestors. Come experience for yourself the long and storied history of the region as well as the bright and exciting future. Grates Cove Studios is proud to offer four-star accommodations, an award-winning restaurant, the studio of Terrence Howell, culinary workshops, printmaking workshops & guided tours. Grates Cove is located on the Baccalieu Trail at the most northerly point on the Avalon Peninsula. It is a perfect example of out-port Newfoundland. Reportedly discovered by John Cabot, Grates Cove has been inhabited since the early 1600s. Grates Cove has stunning views of icebergs, whales and Baccalieu Island Ecological Reserve.
